Hi Dante. I assume you posted in the NA forum here because you are looking at a twelve step approach to your recovery. I recommend you start by looking for meetings. You can find NA meetings in your area by going here:
http://www.ukna.org/meetings/london_browse.php

Good luck in your recovery.

NA meetings worked for me. NA has saved my life. I quit drugs by going to NA and never went to treatment or detox. But you may need treatment or detox.

In the end, cocaine was my DOC. And yes, it's a horrible addiction. Yet...you didn't mention whether you wanted to be clean from anything else. If you're using other drugs and manage to put down the cocaine, it'll only be a matter of time before you go back. I suggest you consider detox or treatment and get to an NA meeting ASAP. Although I went into treatment to get clean, it was NA that saved my life and showed me who to stay clean.

Hey Dante, Cocaine was my thing too. I had a hard time even going one day. Tried everything. Even got plenty of 30, 60, and 90 day key tags. Never got much more though. I couldnt even imagine staying clean. I was convinced it wasnt possible for me. When I finally completly surrendered and got serious about NA, I was able to stay clean longer. Thanks to my sponsor, the fellowship, and a lotta hard work, I am starting on my 3rd year of recovery. NA isnt for people who want it or need it. NA is for people who do NA. Big difference.

Just checked the sobriety calculator. http://www.aahistory.com/days.html It's been 782 days. One day at a time. You can do this too.

I am going through an arraignment on possession of Cocaine . I was caught dead to rights and admitted guilt . I pray I can get into the Drug Court system instead of go to Jail for 5 years.

hey-i think its really important that you have acknowledged that you want to stop using this drug, thats great. you have a goal and it is attainable! find a meeting and educate yourself about this. remove yourself from "friends" you get high with and surround yourself with positive people wo support you. remember, its going to be hard to remove yourself from old "friends" because they are not going to want to let go of a drug buddy (addiction is a lonely place), but you can do it.

Welcome! The substance you mentioned brought me to my knees and brought me to recovery. I wouldn't be clean today without bottoming out on it. I say it again I thank God for that substance because I would be teetering in and out of the "Am I an addict? game." What worked for me was becoming a member of Narcotics Anonymous. Letting people breakdown the walls that kept me isolation, guilt, hate and destruction. I got a Narcotics Anonymous sponsor who had a Narcotics Anonymous Sponsor who had a Narcotics Anonymous sponsor and so on. I used this sponsor and we built a relationship that started by working these 12 steps and 12 traditions and this brings me closer to my HP. I feel (my opinion) we all have this innate characteristic of wanting to belong somewhere. I found that niche for me in Narcotics Anonymous. I put down something destructive and replaced it with something positive.
