| Fourth Day Clean
Today is my fouth day clean ,that not saying much ,with the same fingers that typed this message , I used 5 days ago , I am struggling with my addiction , and I really need support and guidance to make this my last time . I read several posts and I am encouraged by the progress and successes that many of you have had , I only hope that I will be able to do the same , I know that my situation is not unique , but I subconciously think that I am the worst , because of my constant relapses ,they have been increasing and becoming harder to deal with , Is there anyone who has had a very difficult time recovering , someone who possibly relapsed several times but managed to become and stay clean for a considerable length of time , that could offer any tips , advise , stategies employed ,whatever , I had attended NA but recently made excuses not to go . I will be returning on Monday , and will make meetings Monday - Friday . when I actually get to the meetings it helps BIG , but what can I do until the meeting begins, Any suggestions will be strongly considered and appreciated. Go to as many meetings as you can. 90 meetings in 90 days is recommended for newcomers. Get a sponsor: a person who can help you work the steps and can give you honest feedback. Work the 12 steps. Hang out with people who are in NA and are not using. Cut ties from your old using buddies and using places, etc. Pray and meditate, even if you don't believe. Try to be open to some kind of higher power in your life.

| it is a start...
4 days is a great place to start, it is 4 days cleaner then you were 5 days ago... and like Rez said , you need to get to as many meetings as you can as fast as you can, and listen for the hope this program can bring to any addicts life , listen for that one person you can connect with on a higher level, who has a working knowledge of the 12 steps and the 12 traditions, ask that person for help, "could you sponser me please?" share your stuggles, your pain, your hopes and victories, don't hold back anything, be willing to do whatever it takes to stay clean TODAY!!!! work for it and it will be yours, my fourth day clean I collapsed in detox and almost died , but I didn't and today that is the tape I play back to chase away any feelings of using, find yourself a higher power, whatever it may , you need to beleive in something (even if it just the program of N.A.) and get honest with you, totally honest with yourself! try to stay humble and open to life and learning a new way to live it. YOU can do this, if I can do this! just listen to the people sharing at the meetings, and tell yourself just that, "if he/she can do this , so can I", I wish you all the best in the hardest easy thing you will ever do, and may your higher power bless you in your recovery, Dean |

First of all congratulations on the days clean. Rez pretty much hit it on the head. Ninety in Ninety is an excellent start. I surround myself with recovery all day everyday. I talk with other addicts in recovery throughout the day, I read my jft, utilize the power of prayer, hang out after the meetings, stay connected!
