Meeting - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

Sorry just got share this and let it go.

Went to a small country meeting tonight and it was a good meeting. There was a guy there with a zillion years clean and he really pissed me off as he was so rude and preaching about how he did recover on and on and on... and then after the meeting, just as rude so I kept out of his way, but had the thought on the way home that mayube I should have picked him up on his behaviour, anyway glad I didn't do my nut. I decided that he was a good example for me of how not to be.

Thanks for letting me let go.

Clean and sober doesn't always cure the "nasties", eh? I've seen these "guys" (some are cranky old women, by the way) at every sort of 12-step meeting.

You are right, Kevin... they are there to remind me what I DON'T want.

I hear ya.

I was talking to my sponsor tonight and we got on the topic of how some members with time can get kinda caught up in their own self-righteousness that they can't see themselves coming. I'm just thankful that all old-timers aren't like that. I also agree that it takes members like the one you mentioned to give us examples of what NOT to be like.

I wasn't there but I'll bet he had some good things to say, even if he was rude and full of himself. You don't get a zillion years clean by accident.
