Is the celebration of clean times deeper roots driven by Ego?

It can turn into that but I would think if a person is working their program correctly it won't turn into that. A humble heart that cares about others will not allow me to become prideful to a point of driving my ego.

Pride of what I have done is an encouragement to continue on the right path.
Boastful pride of what I have done would be ego.

When I say I have been dry for 20 years or so, I don't say it to lift myself up but as an example to others that it can be done long term.
When I say I have truly been living a sober life and a happy life for going on about 8 years now, I am not listing what I have done but what has been done for me. God has done for me what I could not do for myself.
When I boast, I boast of what God has done. Steps 1, 2, & 3 has shown me much.
