Partying...

So I have been out of commission for almost 3 weeks due to my most recent shoulder surgery. I finally went to my home group tonight and shared at group level about how I've been really thinking about getting drunk. Alcohol is not my DOC so its really strange to me that I've been having dreams where I'm drinking. So I pondered the thought for about 24 hours and really tried to convince myself that if I got drunk just 1 time, I'd be okay and nothing bad would happen to me. For some reason partying has just sounded like a lot of fun recently. This is the first clean xmas for me, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.


I know its my disease talking and I dont want to act on it. I know what will happen if I take just 1. It will lead me to the place that got me here, and I never want to go thru that ever again.

Thanks for sharing this. Yes, I sometimes think a glass of wine with my wife would be fun and romantic, but I need to think this through. What would happen after I had the first glass? Would I want another? Yes. And another? Yes. Etc. Alcohol was not really my DOC, but I liked to drink and get drunk, and I know that nothing good can come of going down that road again.
