Welcome back, Mari. There's light at the end of the tunnel, and I think you know how to get there. I'm "dual diagnosed" as well with addiction/bipolarism. I've been bipolar since childhood, but it wasn't diagnosed back then because they didn't have ADHD and all this childhood stuff back in the 70's. Now I'm dating myself Get to some NA meetings! Do 90 meeting in 90 days... and if that's to hard just go to one meeting a day... for 90 days. They always say in 90 days you'll have 90 new friends, but I always found that to not be true. You'll have a couple hundred new friends! Look around and get a sponsor of the same sex... someone that you admire. Someone who appears to have what you want in life. Don't base your choice on looks or material wealth, but on someone who's recovery inspires you. Get a Basic Text if you don't have one and start reading part one. I was always told to stay away from part 2 until you have some time and peace. Then it's always a good place to read and remember when. The war stories. Prayer is also an awesome instrument... no matter what you believe in. You can just believe in the serenity prayer (or any prayer) and just the power and strength of the groups you go to... whatever gives you strenth and refuge! Good Luck and God Bless! Once you get into the NA way of life it's never the same. That's when life really begins. It takes the fun out of using and you learn to enjoy life without the junk. You can do it

I have a plan that will hopefully work for me. I have plan atrip to Florida to visit a friend that has never done any drugs in his life. I know him fo ten years and has put up with me, through my good days and my bad ones. After I get back from Florida, I had spoken to my counsler at the methadon clinic I go to so that we need to set up a 30day in paitient program for me. Which I have done before and it work for me for almost a year. I will keep you guys posted on my progress. Thank yo for hearing me out. Mari |
