| Coming to believe - new belief system
Beliefs are very powerful, entrenched orders in our brains to act in a particular manner. Beliefs can kill. But they can also save. For me to start a process in coming to believe that a Higher Power can restore me to sanity has meant changing a very sick and programmed belief system which has been in me for most of my life. I've practiced it a lot, day after day, it has gained strenght: the strenght to kill. Now in recovery, my belief system is changing. I'm believing in things that at one time seemed imposible. Why? Because I can see that they work in others and I'm desperate to try something new. I know the program works because I see it with my own eyes and I've started to see it's also working in my own life. My top 3 worse beliefs that I've had to change are: 1) Thinking I can't live without drugs 2) Thinking I'm better off in some aspect of my life with drugs (I'm more creative, I'm more likeable, etc) 3) My definition of fun What are some beliefs that you've got to change? |
