Sorry to bother you all, but, I have a question. I just had minor surgery. I got a script for vicodine and I am using it as directed. My question is, can I still take my trazadone? It's a mild antidepressant that helps me sleep. Thanks for any information you may have. Shalom!

did the doc that prescribed the vicodine know you take trazadone? i would think that if he/she knew and prescribed the new med, then it would be fine. if you are still not sure, you could also call the pharamist and ask. In my non-doctor opinion, I think it would be fine. You might be a bit sleeper than usual if you take the 2 at the same time though. I have taken pain pills before (simular to vicodine) and not changed any of my psych meds, including the one I take for sleep.

Thanks, ranae; I was asleep before you answered, and I slept through the night without taking the trazadone. I was too scared to take it, without knowing if it was ok or not. I've never been on vicodin before. The doc who prescribed the vicodin did know about the trazadone. But, I didn't specifically ask. I slept pretty good. I woke up every time I tried to turn over in my sleep. I normally sleep on my side, and that was NOT going to happen last night after the surgery. But, on my back, I kept falling right back to sleep. So, it worked all right. I guess it's always better to be safe, rather than sorry. Thanks again for your help. I will call the pharmacy today to find out for sure. Shalom!

Asking a pharmasits (sp?) is the best...they know how the drugs interact....almost better than the Dr.s do.

You're right, Pony! Thanks! ![]() And I did just call the pharmacy. He said it was ok, to take the trazadone with the vicodin if needed. I have also been having hot flashes! I asked about that, and he said it may be an alergic reaction. I have no other symptoms though, of an allergy. No hives, swelling....so, probably not. He said there's nothing hormonal in the vicodin though, and that if it's bothersome, to call the doc and get a different script. Well, hot flashes are a bit bothersome, but, not enough to call and change prescriptions. I can't drive, (rather, I don't feel comfortable driving), so I'd have to find someone to take me....I can live with a bit of sweating, lol! ![]() Thanks for the help. Isn't it weird that the questions always come in the middle of the night when there's no one to answer??? Thank G*D for SR again! You know, I joke about being "addicted" to SR, but, I AM dependent upon all of you for so many things! Isn't dependency the core of addiction??? ![]() Thank you all... Shalom!
