| welbutrin??
I have been taking celexa for a few years. I have gained 33 lbs in the last yr and 1/2.(stress eater, going through he77 w/ AD) I ran into someone I hadn't see for a while & she looked great. Lost quite a bit of weight. She told me it was the welbutrin & I should check it out. I have been on it for just over 2 weeks now. I can't stand the way I feel. I decided last night I have to get off this stuff, but it's sunday so I can't call the doc. I have been taking 2 150 ng tabs. I know your not supposed to just stop taking it. I figure today & tomorrow I'll just take one tab. I have never felt so angry in all my life. I can't stand the feeling. I tried to give it time. I'm affraid I'm going to go postal. I feel like a dumb ass, I had to mess with a good thing, my celexa was working OK. Anyone else had a prob w/ welbutrin?

I take Wellbutrin and love it. I had taken it in the past and noticed that it made me into a b*tch because when on it I was less likely to hold feelings in and more likely to say what I thought. I don't know what is different now from back then but today it just makes me feel "normal". I don't feel angry. I don't really feel anything. I've taken meds in the past that made me feel like a robot or zombie and I would quit taking them. I don't feel that way on Wellbutrin at all. As for the weight thing, I haven't lost or gained while taking it. To each his own and each person's experience is going to be different. If Celexa was working well for you but you think the weight gain was associated with it, is there a similar drug in the same family that might work just as well on the depression without the weight issues? Just a thought. Hugs, Kellye Sobriety date 8/8/04 By God's Grace & AA

I too have had different experiences with wellbutrin/zyban. (they are the same thing; zyban is marketed for smoke cessation though.) It does have a known side effect for some people. Some people become aggitated or wired on it. I was taking only one, except when I quit smoking. Then, I took two. But, it did indeed make me hyper. Talk to your doctor. Shalom!

All sounds like good advice and your doing the right thing by taking one a day to get off of it. And if you absolutely feel you aren't gonna make it till your appointment; Just go to your nearest ER. Or ask your pharmacy to give you a few until you can see your doctor mine has done that for me. Take a deep breath and remember you can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a horrible experience with it. I took it to try to quit smoking. It kept me from sleeping and took me through some crazy emotions. I was lucky that my daughter noticed that it might be from the welbutrin. All I remember is her saying "Stop taking that pill' lol. Talk to your doctor tomorrow. |

The first day I took it I was a bit angry but that wore off. I know a few people who just couldn't stay on it though, for the reasons you describe. My doctors want me off of it because they say it's adding to my anxiety. I'm not sure about that, but good for you for figuring it out. :-)

Ohhh really!! Thinking about it, I think my anxiety attacks have probably doubled since I started taking them. I'm scared to go off of them though because of the energy factor. I was always so tired. I didn't know that Welbutrin wasn't an SSRI or whatever. But I guess it's kind of a relief to know that these anxiety attacks may die down some. I thought it was from being off the meth that made them go up. OY, helpus, sorry I don't mean to hijack your thread! ;-)

My doctors told me this week that Welbutrin is a big contributor to anxiety. They think that's why it's so bad right now. I never knew that. It makes some of my friends Mean!! I am thinking I like it cause of the stimulant effect. It's not the same but it does wake me up. Helpus, do you think the Celexa was a factor in your weight gain? That is what they want to put me on for anxiety. I'm scared to death about the weight gain. I'd rather have anxiety than gain weight.

I really don't think the celexa had much to do with the weight gain, I was on it for a couple years w/o as much as a lb. But when I got a job offer I took (more $$$) but way more stress, that was the first 15-20 lbs, then my daughter hense the rest. It sucks with summer coming and all. But I am looking forward to my good ol celexa, and I guess the gym and weight watchers.

I was on zoloff for awhile but it was making me shaky and zombielike so if wellbutrin makes you hyper thats not so bad?? Is it? But the anxiety factor might not be so good though maybe I should just stick with the zoloff...small doses until I feel stable enough. I'm going through the depression again but it has to do with the after affects of alcohal.

I'm on my second go around with Wellbutrin. I quit it the first time because I didn't think it was helping anymore. Then depression started to effect me again. And I felt like a complete worthless unmotivated slug all the time. So my Doc put me back on it. I went through slight insomnia the first few weeks back on, but that is not so bad anymore. It has made me slightly more anxious, but not too serious. I do notice that my appetite is slightly less than it was (thats a good thing), I feel a bit more motivated , and a bit more hopefull. So far for me I am feeling a little better.
