Exclamation My Precious!

I have schizoaffective disorder, an I was taking just paxil for it, I've been of the paxil for a week now because of sexual side effects, but I've had headaches, head rushes, I'm very cranky, and I feel well, crazy as heck! I'm going to start wellbutrin and zyprexa on tuesday, but I'm suffering without my precious. (paxil) are these normal withdrawal symptoms from paxil, anyone?

Did you stop taking the Paxil on your own, or did your doctor ok it? I would hope that you were slowly weaned off of the Paxil, over a course of a week to several weeks depending on how long and how high of a dose you were taking. If you stopped taking it cold turkey, then yes the side effects you are describing are normal. It can be very dangerous to stop any medication without first being weaned off, however it can be even more dangerous when dealing with psychotropic medications such as Paxil.

When do you see your doctor again? Will you see him/her on Tuesday when you will be starting your new medications? I would strongly recommend you keep in touch with your doctor and make sure they are aware of your symptoms.

hang in there!

Unhappy

I quit cold turkey myself, I had no Idea that the side effects would be like so, wow I was taking almost the maximum dosage, 50 mgs, I think that I made a total manic choice by quiting cold turkey, my doc will have something to say about that definitely

Well hopefully knowing that this is likely the cause for your "crazy as heck" feelings will be of some help. And in the future, if you ever need to or want to stop medication, you will go through your doctor or at least go off of it slowly. You have a doctor appointment Tuesday right? Make sure you keep that appointment. And if you don't have an appointment this week, please please call and make sure to see him/her soon!!!

Hang in there!!

I heard getting off of Paxil is pretty horrible, one shouldn't underestimate withdrawing from any anti depressant tho.
