His daughter is bi polar She'd quit taking her meds. Anyway, seems she's been living elsewhere. She snuck into his house the other night and took off with his ATM card. He's not sure if, she's using any other drugs or not. Any one fill me in on info. on this disorder to pass on? Is this something that she could help? The other day when, the guy said he had a bomb at the airport made me stop and think how a person isn't in control with this Thanks for any one's help Chris

Hi, Chris, Now you are in my backyard....hahahahahahaha Bi-polar is a very cruel disorder. It sure isn't anything anyone would choose and anyone who has it would dearly love to simply change it if they could. It is not curable. It is treatable to various effects. Some respond very well to treatment, others nothing seems to work. One of the biggest problems and dangers with this disease is yes, that often they forget to take their meds, or decide they don't want to anymore or that they don't need them. Some have it worse than others. I had a friend who was bi-polar and he would become totally delusional and psychotic in manic phases. He was brilliant, yet broken. It was heart wrenching. Sometimes in manic stages grand schemes are hatched and acted upon.....so who knows why your friend's daughter acted as she did. She may well have been drug seeking. She might also have been financing a trip to a religious delusion which is quite common in the more severe cases. The main thing is to keep her on her meds. And monitored by a competent physician, probably a psychiatrist. Shutterbug, a lovely and brilliant friend of mine, is here at SR and she is bi-polar. She is an inspiration to all of us, her courage, her insight, her honesty and her willingness to educate are monumental. I am sure you will find a great deal of information in her threads or in a direct response to this thread. Are there any stickies at the top that address bi-polar? I have never looked. hmmmm. Tena
