Regarding Manic Episodes

I hope someone can answer this question. Generally speaking, how long do manic episodes last? Hours? Days? Also, is it possible they can they last several months? One of the reasons I ask, is because I have huge personality/mood changes that last several months, then I revert back for awhile before undergoing a complete and drastic life change once again, usually in extreme ways, often to the opposite of what I was previously doing.

Chris, I think the length of the manic episodes can really vary a lot, depending on the person. I would suggest you try to get into a psychiatrist and talk about it.

I am a rapid cycling bipolar and I have had manics that have lasted minutes and a couple that have lasted for months. There is no way to know how long any one person's episode will last unless you chart your moods for a year or more and can see a pattern -- then you can kind of do an educated guess sort of thing.

My suggestion to you would be to make an appointment to see a psychiatrist if you think you might be bipolar....also it's a good idea to get a physical done from your regular doc since some physical ailments can mimic bipolar disorder.
