Talking Happy Winter Solstice!!!!!!

I was driving home from work today and noticed how dark it was at 6 p.m. and remembered BlueMoon saying...

Today (the 21st) is the shortest day of the year!
Today is the Winter Solstice!

What does that mean? BlueMoon has a wonderful insight into realizing that this is the darkest day of the year and things will only get brighter from this day on.
Thank you BlueMoon...I hope you are having a Happy Winter Solstice!

Hugs,
Jenna

21st is the anniversary of my little Mom's death. We buried her on Xmas eve. It is a time of great sadness for me, but the new Wellbutrin script is helping.

I combat the seasonal blues by taking a tanning session every couple of weeks. It seems to help. I'm glad the days are getting longer now.

I'm sorry for the sad time Roadie....that's got to be hard to deal with every year!

I agree with you on the tanning...I keep reminding myself of that, but I have yet to make it to a session. I really need to start going. I didn't realize that one session every couple of weeks would do the trick...I was figuring on having to buy a tanning package for the month or something.

I don't do it to get tan, although a little color is nice side effect. What you're doing is stimulating your skin, something to do with vitamin A and D, I think. Also your rods and cones in your eyes get somehow 'activated' by the UV(but do wear the protective goggles). It's just a little bit o sunshine, which increases your wellbeing. And I'm all about that.

If you buy a 'package' get a # of sessions so you can spread them out and save money. Unlimited Monthly tanning just makes you want to overdo it and get too tan, then you have to pay again next month. If you can get like 12-20 and spread em out, it lasts all winter.

Got to get on this excersize program though!

I agree that the color is nice, but I wasn't gunna do it for that reason either.

I read in a magazine article that when a study was done on 150 people with complaints of chronic pain and fatigue that they found 93 percent of them were deficient in Vitamin D (which is naturally produced in our bodies by the sun light).

Well, some on here were talking about tanning giving them energy and stuff and I remembered back to the two times I bought tanning packages and stuck with it....not only did I feel so much better, but both times it made me highly motivated to lose weight and I did.

I've never heard anything about the Vitamin A...or the rods and cones in your eyes though so I'm interested in learning more if you can elaborate.

Thank you Jenna! I had a very nice Solstice yesterday - despite the fact that I woke up and thought "Oh HELL - it's morning" - I did bounce out of bed when I realized what day it was!

As much as I love the night-time and the moon, there's just something HEALING about having a little bit more daylight everyday - even if it's 'all in my mind' -

As for today being the 1st day of more brightness - grrrrr - BF + I are flat broke and no hope for cig + diet coke money in sight. (Is this a TEST?!) - But we've got food, we've got heat and we've got all sorts of board games to play - hmmmm - "things" might not be brighter (yet), but my ATTITUDE is. (and I get points for that even if it IS alot of effort on my part!! )

*~* major hugs to you roadie!!*~*

Bright Blessings to ALL,
Blue

No - no points for being cig-less - *yet*
I'm trying really really hard to 'ration' this last 1/2 pack to make it to bedtime at least. (might be an EARLY nite! *grimace*)

Things always seem to work out just fine so I'm trying REALLY hard to NOT worry about tomorrow's cig supply - you know, "one day at a time" stuff. It's a great theory, I'm just not very good at putting it into practise tho!!!

If all else fails, I've got a few nicotine patches left over from last summer's failed attempt to quit smoking. I'll slap a coupla them on - maybe 3-4!! *heh heh heh*

Me going 'cold-turkey' off nicotine??? OMFG, I'd be in a nicely padded room with one of those comfy, snuggly jackets!!! I've been a fairly heavy smoker for waaaaaaaay too many years.

Ooooh I know! I'll walk downtown where all the shops are and pick up butts!!! and groveling is NOT out of the realm of possiblity either!

Ahhhh, it's good to have a plan!!! It makes me sooooo much calmer! *rotf*

Funny, BF doesn't seem to understand me - tonite methinks HIS brain is slipping a bit from inadequate nicotine too! (He doesn't think that's much of a plan - MEN!) It couldn't be that I'm even more warped than usual could it??? NAH! I don't think so!

*giggling*

(which is much better than crying and/or stressing)

Blue
