boy i luvs your gram too. XOXOXOXOX for her!

i have to agree with shutterbug, cops log all calls, especially 911 emergency calls. sounds fishy. the residential tenency office also deals with this type of situation and provide advice to tenants as far as their rights go. we also have a free "lawyer informaton line" and a free "lawyer referral line". also you can fill out a "police report" at any police station, they will give you a receipt for it, as proof that you filed a report. but since youve already moved out its a bit late for this stuff now. also video camera holds up well in arbritration court if it has the "electric timer/date" device. to get any of these phone numbers the library reference clerk is always helpful, and also there is usually a free state or provincial office that directs calls to the appropriate agency. usually you have to have some good proof to win.

also, you can send a registered letter to your landlord called a "incident report" outlining the problems, and keep a copy as proof that the landlord was made aware of the ongoing threat to your health and safety.

Okay, not sure if I have told you guys this yet or not, but it appears that the slumlord finally found someone else to host from. Received a call from some girl that needed a place, and I told her to get in contact with the landlord over there. Well, before I hung up the phone with her, I informed her to let me know if by chance she re-rented it. Turns out that the guy HAS in fact re-rented the place! SO, I doubt I'll be sued anytime soon.

The place is sooo wonderful too (the new place). I'm starting to have everything arranged the way I need it to be and all. The only thing I'm waiting on now is the darn Verizon DSL. It's been almost a week since I informed them of my transference. They said that the due date was no later than the 16th though, so it should be on pretty soon. I need it too because the only place I can use the internet is the coffee grounds and school.

Well, this has been a dandy adventure. HA!

HAHA! Get this! I moved less than half a mile away throughout all this moving crap, and at my previous residence, I had Verizon DSL... WELL, I guess there is a black cloud following me because they can't install it at this new place! HA! Go fig... I called the first time I started having problems, and I got this guy named "Daryal"... Well, I told him about how I still had no DSL connected after about 2-3 weeks worth of being patient, and he told me that if I received an email explaining why I couldn't have my DSL, then the reason should be understood...

Of course, this infuriated me because I was still at a misunderstanding as to why I wasn't able to have DSL in my area (because the email stated simply that: it wasn't in my "area"). So I ended up calling someone else, and this time I got someone on the horn named "Lynetta". She informed me that the local Verizon office had "filled up it's circuit and that the office's computer systems were undergoing "technical difficulty" ". With this in mind, she asked me if I would like to be on some sort of "list" that would allow contact if and when the office becomes "enabled" again. I said yes.

So the moral of this story is to consider how a few football field distances can change your life when you move because I moved that far away to another apartment, and now I'm not able to do some homework, actual work-work, as well as communicate on the internet at home now. HA! Isn't life grand!? THANKS A BUNCH VERIZON!

Hi Wolf!
I am glad to see things have worked out with the apartment, the rest will soon follow. As for being sued by the other place you shouldn't have to much to worry about. With the places here in Colorado they usually will make you pay until the places have been rented again or your lease runs out wich ever comes first. If it does goto court then I am with your grandma, fight till the end, cause you guys have lots of documentation. Keep you head held high, cause you've got a lot to be proud of!

Life is crap sometimes, I keep asking WHY!!!!!!!!!!
Things will turn out just as they should if you have faith that they will. that is my problem right now just keeping some faith in a power that is greater than me!!!
Well I have faith in others that comes so readily but faith in myself is another matter....I guess it comes with time and adversity. This experience will help others someday. Good luck with your studies I know how difficult it is to juggle everything. I am a mature student myself, hoping to grad this year. So hang in there there are others who share your pain and troubles and we send love always

Lot's have happened lately...

1st, I heard from a fellow worker that lives almost directly by me that he's trying to get DSL hooked up too at his place, and that he went into the local office of Verizon to ask around and poke some sticks. Well, it sounded like he had a bit more luck than I did with the last "shpeel" I pulled with the customer service clerk, so I'm going to head over there after work...

2nd, I sent my new landlord a letter with all the things that are/were messed up when I moved in. This ranges from things like the dryer that doesn't work, big holes in various doors, and light sockets and phone jacks that are faulty. So you can understand the importance of letting them know about these things. Anyway, I sent the letter certified and it made them mad! HA! They understand that I have some experirience with this stuff now and they know that if they neglect to fix the various things, they could be in trouble in court. Now I'm not ever going to go that far with these people because they are good people I think, but I thought it was funny that it made them mad because the women landlord contacted me on the phone to let me know that "they understood the mess I was in last time, however I need to understand that they aren't going to be like that other guy. " Yep, your right because I'm not going to give you the chance to be like that other guy! HAHAHA!

So this new landlord is telling me now that they're going to buy a new dryer and she made it sound like I was going to have to help out with getting the dryer up the stairs of my apt. Ha...

Oh well. I'm willing to help move in things that I don't own if thats the price I have to pay to get the damn place to work the way it was advertised...

Yup.. I'm protect my own butt now thank you very much.. and have a nice day yourself.... hehehehe

Nice only goes so far.

I'm sending a request out to the universe for ya.. to get some action on your line.. as I know it's really important for what you do.

HAHA! I guess I'm on some sort of "waiting list" for Verizon. It appears that the people that fulfill the network of DSL seem to have "filled up the circuit" in my area, and with that, have caused no "openings" at the moment. So to make a long story short, have made it to where I will be notified when the 1st available opening is here.

Besides that, the LL (my new one) has came in and taken care of things. I think he's actually going to turn out to be a cool guy.

Oh, and BTW, right now I'm using someone else's wifi signal to access the net so maybe my net time won't be so off? HA. Not too comfortable with doing that because I don't like being a hacker or a leach, but I don't really plan on being on for long.

Stay tuned! HA!

i don't know if this is true in your case or not, but sometimes it's not always the internet peeps fault that you can't get DSL and stuff. Basically, sometimes the companies have to go through the city council to get permission and set up a contract with the city to use tower space and things like that. One of the town's I use to cover only recently got DSL access.

I definetly wouldn't worry any further about your old place. Even if they did sue you....I doubt much would come from it. I got sued once by a rental property company in college for breaking my lease agreement and I never needed a lawyer or anything. We just went through mediation and .....not only did I end up not having to pay them a dime....they actually had to pay ME like $300 dollars from my original deposit. They were pretty unhappy about that, but hey....you have to fight for yourself and what is right.

I hope things start going smoother for you now.

Everything is great except for my neighbors downstairs. They're playing some rap and it's shaking the floor boards. lol... I don't know. I'm planning on making some calls if it continues. The new landlord said that she would be cool with me on things, so this will be a good time to test her out. Someone last night banged their fist on the wall downstairs when they were playing the music at 11:30pm. When they hit the wall, it stopped. I'm okay with music being played loud every once in awhile because people need to have some "elbow room", but when it goes beyond is when I have problems with it, and right now, it's beyond. I'm just waiting on someone other than myself to do something about it because I don't want to have to be the executioner anymore. All I want is a normal, easy-going place, and so far it's like love: not sure if it trully exists! HA!!! That was more or less a joke people.

Okay, so get this... Verizon is charging me for my DSL from my old place when they didn't even hook it up in the other place! MAKING ME SUPER MAD. I have to wait now until Monday to "discuss" this with someone from a local office, and to think that all of this $H!^ was caused from some dilrod kid who probably didn't know what he was doing on his computer. With this, and the added stress of my alchoholic father trying to "comunicate" with me again after 1.5-2 years of NOT communicating with me, I'm very stressed.

One a lighter note, I have a girlfriend. So far she's my sunshine. We have been with eachother now for about 2.5-3 weeks and I'm already feeling for her. I'm committed to not having sex with her until marriage as this is a goal both her AND I have with eachother and God, so as this is hard to do sometimes when we're alone; wish me luck with my new found romance.

Lastly, I've been promoted (sorta speak) to the lead developer at work. I'm in charge of about 2-3 people, and as I'm going to be designing most of the workflow, I'm kinda scared about it all. I mean, I know my stuff, and since I know my stuff, I guess I'm not too worried about it. It's just that I don't want to step on anyones toes.

I hate stress. HA!

Thanks for the feedback bikewench. It's something when a company is working hard and has a bunch of individual consumers to deal with, however, when they place you on hold for more than 2 hours, it's something entirely different.

SO

Needless to say, I'm done with Verizon. I'm going to have to rough it and either go to school and or the local coffee shop to get my internet fix. It's okay because it's something I'm prepared to do. I'm just wanting to make sure everything works out in the long run with me and stuff because with this new place looking as good as it is, and the new girlfriend in my life, I couldn't ask for more: which is why I'm scared about something going wrong. Last night I tried to tell my girlfriend how I felt about her with my feelings and stuff, and I think I managed to make things somewhat more tangled than they had to be. I love this girl, and to lose her would be horrible. I told her this, and I feel as if I have cut my own throat in our young relationship. I mean, she acted as if she was about to cry when I was telling her about how deep my feelings went for her, and I guess that is good because she told me it was a good "cry".

I'm just so stressed. lol. School, 2 jobs, own place, girlfriend that is young in the relationship... I feel as if my life is going places that is too fast to keep up with sometimes, but it's like I can't help to keep these feelings inside me like I have, and when I try to express them, I make things worse.

I could use a hug! HAHA!

HAHA! The fireball grammy is doing great. She's so wonderful. Everyday, I try to make a call to her to see how things are going. Last time I talked to her, she said everything was fine. She's usually down in the back from my little neice (babysitting), other than that though, she's usually giving my grampa hell over politics and the coffee pot. HA!

Thanks bikewench for your words. They mean a lot.
