| Paxil vs Paxil CR
Just a quick question: Is there a big difference btwn the regular Paxil and the CR? Other than the obvious that the Cr is a controlled release of that latter? My doc told me that weight gain side effect of regaulr Paxil (that my 20 pound fatter as* can attest to) does not occur with the CR. Is the drug itself different? Should I be careful switching to the CR? Also, I was taking 40mg of Paxil each day - my CR script is for 12.5 mg. Is that a large difference in dosage? ( different doctors prescribed the regular Paxil and then the CR) I know y'all are not doctors, but any experience or general knowledge on the subject would be great! Much Love:SS

I have been on both Paxil and Paxil CR. I personally have not noticed a difference when I went from one to another. And yes the dosage difference does seem to be a lot. When I went from Paxil to Paxil CR my doctor kept me on a comparable dosage. I have also noticed weight gain with both Paxils. But I have never really wanted to blame the drug totally for that. I made the decision to eat the bad foods, and also made the decision not to exercise as much as I should.
