Lexapro and upping dose??

Some of you heard my Lexapro woes.......not really sure if it was working. Well, it seemed to kick in a bit around week 3, but week 4 now and I am feeling like I am backsliding a bit, or atleast not feeling as good as week 3. Saw the psych and she said to try one more week and then if I didn't feel much better, to go to 20mg Lexapro. If within a week of that I did not feel better or felt WAY sleepy (I was when I first started Lexapro), then to start on Prozac.

Have any of you upped your Lexapro dose from 10mg to 20 mg and if so.........did it help or just give you more negative side effects? I am scared of the

I would suggest going up more slowly, like to 15mg instead of straight up to 20mg. When I was on Celexa (the old version of Lexapro), I had to adjust the dose very carefully and take it at around 4 or 5PM in order to not be too tired during the day. Why don't you run taking 1 & 1/2 of the 10mg by your doc?

Love and hugs,
Eddie

I had mine raised from 10 to 20 and it worked out very well. Eddie is right about timing when you take them. And side effects do pass with time, but I still take mine at night rather than morning as I first did.

I was on 10 mgs of Lexapro for several months before I moved up to 20 mg so I can't help with that question. I have had no side effects from the Lexapro, it didn't seem to make me tired at all.

Good luck to you

thanks for the replies.

I asked the doc about taking 1 and a half pills and she said pretty much like "Nah, just take 2". But did say I could take 1 and a half and see how I felt.

Liveweyerd.........did the 20 mg make a big difference? I mean, did you feel a marked difference in your mood when you went from 10-20. I was happy with the Lexapro around week 3 but now in week 4 and 5 it doesn't seem like it is working as well (still at 10mg). Either that or my stress went up...LOL
