Okay people, I need to seriously vent. I am sooo furious right now that I'm about to lose my job in doing something foolish... About a year ago, I was working at the "lovely" Wal-Mart here in my town. Well, I was working indirectly with someone that was considered by myself a friend. Now granted, he was a pain in the butt sometimes with some wise cracks, and his ocassional slam, but he was an okay kid. We'll call this kid "John". Well, one day at school (college), I found out about an internship that dealt with creating websites for local United Way agencies as well as assisting them with their overall technology needs (I'm an IT major), so I sent in my resume and went to join in. One day while I was still working at Wal-Mart (yes, I got the internship), I was standing by John as we waited to get a truck unloaded in the grocery unloading bay. While I was standing there, John says, "So did ya here anything about the internship?" I replied with "nope". Then he says "I bet my internship would blow yours away..." Me hiding my anger at such a statement, I replied with a sarcastic "Yeah, I bet it would..." Then rolled my eyes. Come to find out that he also go the internship. Thats okay, because I really don't mind. I mean, I can put up with people like this, but heres where it gets pretty hairy... He is now basically my boss. I mean, he's considered what is called "The Student Project Coordinator" which is basically saying that while your in this internship, you'll be under that person. SO, even that I could deal with as well, but once him and the current project coordinator both start being jerks is where I begin to get PO'ed. Today was just an instance of this. I have been working on getting a person's computer to work that is from a local United Agency, and I have been working on it now for about a day and a half. I walked into the office this morning and John asked me if I got an email from him about something that was going to be happening today in the office. I said no because I had to use my monitor and other peripherals on the ladies computer in order to diagnose it and fix it... So in other words, I didn't have my office computer's functionality due to the other ladies PC... And peripherals around this office are rare... SO... I had to use mine. Before I could reply, the current Project Coordinator butted in and said "Well it was sent to us all..." in a belittling way. I shot back and said "Well it's kinda hard getting emails when I don't have my computer..." Then they started in on how I should've had it done a day ago, and these comments were comming from the "people in charge" in our office that do nothing but read about the new games that are being released and chat on yahoo instant messenger. The current project coordinator is someone who is really fat, and when the office gets hot in here, she begins to sweat and her BO is horrible... I mean, theres so many snotty things I could say to them like what they just said to me, but I don't because I simply mind my own business and think before I talk. I know this is probably insignificant compared to some problems that happen to some of you, but this type of thing has been going on for awhile now, and I don't know how much more I can take. In about 2 weeks, there will be a big change with everyone because the fall semester will be starting, and we'll be getting some new interns in, so I guess I need to see what happens then. Can someone please help me with this by relating? Or am I just being a pansy...

This not insignificant... Life is life.. ;o) Methinks your going to have to use your coping skills with those two 24/7.... ... from what you've described... I'd probably let 95% of what they say roll of... cause it's dysfunctional bullshyte... I'd say.. counter their comments with logic and rightness...and anything that can't be countered... drop it in the mental wastebasket... ;o) We can only do what we can do... and letting someone lay a trip on us is grounds to spiral down... in my case anyway... Work with honor and intent... and let the rest go... Wishing you a peaceful day... |
