I was just prescribed Cymbalta to wheen off of Effexor. So far I have taken it 3 days instead of my evening Effexor and it has not caused any withdrawals from the Effexor and/or side effects from the Cymbalta. After next week I am taking 60mg of Cymbalta with no Effexor. I'll see what happens.

Why do you ask?

runningfree,
Thank you for responding. My girlfriend (or XAGF--whatever she is) started taking it a couple weeks ago. Can't really tell if it is working or not. Am interested to follow your experience with it.
Thanks,
larry

larry,
I am the worst at thinking that I will jinx myself, but I am thinking very positively. I have heard horrific stories about withdrawals from Effexor and it's lasting effects even when slowly decreased.
This transition with the Cymbalta has been outstanding so far. I guess now that I climbed over that really "steep mountain" it is appearing clearer on this side. The weekend and last Friday was pretty tough. I was anxious, agitated, and very jumpy, but I woke up Saturday morning after tossing and turning and feeling like a running motor to receive 3 hours of sleep and something happened or snapped and I have felt great ever since. I mean "really" great. The kind of great that I have been searching for all along in these 18 months of medication hell. Hopefully with jinxing myself I think I have finally found the right recipe with this Cymbalta and Wellbutrin together.

Cymbalta user

Hi I just started Cymbalta 5 days ago. I am waning off Zoloft because it left me feeling very fatigued and flat. I really liked Zoloft but I had no energy. So I did some online research and found out about Lilly's new drug.

So far, it does seem energizing, but I will wake up and not be able to go back to sleep. Eventually I do, though.

Fortunately I am not working this month, so I can experiment with a new medication for my dysthymia. I am now in the middle stages of zolft out/cymbalta in and I will update my progress on this post, in case anyone is also considering going on this medication.

Just some tummy pains so far, like pms (ladies you know) and little chest pain once in a while, but other than that - its ok.

Hi, I have been on Cymbalta for about 6 months, I love it. I have been going through alot with my mother, (she has lived with me for the past 10 years and recently went in a nursing home) I don't think I could have functioned without the Cymbalta, I was on Prozac before and have less side affect now. Life has been better for me, I have felt so much better and can cope with so much more.

wani2u,
Thanks for sharing your experience with us and WELCOME to SR! Keep coming back!

Sharon,
I'm on Wellbutrin and Cymbalta, too! In addition to some other stuff. It seems to be a great combination except I've gained alot of weight, supposedly from the Cymbalta. I know this is an old thread and you may never see this, but I hope you are doing well these days.

Love and hugs,
Eddie
