Any feed back would be appreciated. I was given a script to stop smoking. I took one today and it kinda made me feel funky. will this subside? I also drank a big coffee earlier which could contribute to it. feeling a little jittery...anxious.. thanks |

Wellbutrin works differently on everyone so you can't go by other's experience, but I'll tell you mine. I took it to quit smoking also. I was awake for days on that medication and smoked twice as much. By the end of the week I was following my daughter around crying and asking her why she hated me, lol. It's normal to have some side effects at first on any of these medications. Keep an eye on it. If it gets worse call the doctor. I would also try to stay away from the caffeine for now. I had to quit taking it after a week. You'll know for sure in 3 or 4 days. Hugs |

don't know a thing about that. Welbutrin is often used as an anti-depressant and takes about 6 to 8 wks to kick in and get stabilized in your body. Most have side effects in the beginning that subside. One of mine made me absolutly giddy mixed with coffee. I bounced off the walls. That passed as my body adjusted to the chemical change.

hello, I was taking welbutrin for depression. bupropion ( the generic name ) the medication prescribed to help people stop smoking is called zyban. they are both the same. I found the side effect of the wellbutrin was it made me hypo manic and another medication had to be used for me. Some drugs they have developed they have found also have other uses. for example I take a couple anti seizure medication for bi polar disorder that they have found also has uses a mood stabilizers |

Same with me, we had to adjust down my initial doses when I quit smoking. It made me terribly anxious. I'd stay away from caffeine as well; I ended up quitting both coffee and smokes for a long time and felt doubly great. But Wellbutrin can be rough on you, especially while your body adjusts to it.

I take 300 mg Wellbutrin XL every morning for the last 6 months. I have absolutely no side effects (unless you consider increased sex drive a side effect). I don't really know what I think of it's benefits yet though. Still contemplating.

I tried it for depression. It didn't do a thing for me, but that isn't abnormal for me as I've gone through several antidepressants with no effect. At least it didn't cause me any harm; the only thing that actually HURT me was Lexapro. ~ashes

Liveweyerd and the rest are right from what I know about it. I took it to quit smoking and to help with depression, but after 4 weeks it wasn't working so i quit taking it. I didn't know that it took 4-6 to kick in. My doc was horrible and didn't even bother to tell me this fact. Also, I've been told that to really stop smoking with Wellbutrin, you should also use patches to help with cravings while the medication take that month or so to kick in. But I'm not a doctor, but a doctor did tell me that, but i would check with your doc first anyway. Seven years later and i'm still trying to quit smoking. Jenna
