Since recovery I somehow cant seem to be happy with anything. I constantly find myself isolating and wanting to be alone.Although no one seems to understand why I feel this way.I have seen counselors over and over.So I do what they say and take antidepressants, but rite now nothing seems to be working. This is my first time doing this type of counseling, but maybe someone can help to get me on the rite track. Its been 10 months and I DO NOT want the life that I once lived. Thanks |

Hi SIR, and welcome. Congratulations on the 10 months. A lot of changes come along with the new sobriety that can help us feel "out of it", as well as possibly being depressed. I found that working in and on my recovery from the inside out, after the using stopped to be helpful with those feelings. Working on putting together and new and sober way of life, replacing the old bad habits with new ones. I'm glad you found us here, this can be a great additional tool to ones recovery, and you'll also find your not alone. Don't give up, keep posting, and once again, Welcome. |

Hi, welcome. Please take the time to meet people here with similar struggles, this site is a wealth of strength. There are many powerful and helpful posts at the top of the forums called power posts, check them out. Additionally MG has a wealth of information posted, education, practical suggestions. Most of hers right now are in the PTSD forum but are applicable to most of us.

Are you going to meetings? NA, maybe? That helps me. And one of the other big things that helps me is getting enough of the right kind of light! I know it might sound a little flaky, but my psychiatrist agrees with me. In fact, he commented last week on how well I'm doing...and he's known me for over twenty years. Now, I tan, but I don't really recommend it wholeheartedly because it can cause problems, but you can get special lights for depression. Check this site out! It has made all the difference in the world for me. Plus, to be honest, I take LOTS of medication. The right meds can be hard to find, but definitely worth it. Hang in there! And talk to your doctor as well as the counselors. And do you have a sponsor? That can help too. I wish you well. Peace, love, and hugs, Eddie

Welcome SIR! Congrats on 10 months! Do check out AA or NA. Support can make all the difference. If 12 steps aren't your thing, there are plenty of other support programs out there.
