| Human Rights of Those allficted with Bi-Polar
Have you noticed that the ADA does not really protect those of us with Bi-Polar? Think about it! When you try to find a job if you list your disability chances are you won't get the job? Worse yet if you don't list it then we have to remain underground because the system won't treat you fairly? How do you handle your work situation if you are working or seeking work? I've been having trouble finding a new job and I'm afraid to file for disability because I know if I do, I may never have an opportunity to work again. How do you feel about this topic?

What does ADA stand for? The American Disability Act? I've very intersted in this topic since this is my main concern at present. Besides the obvious loss of income, I am really scared about what happens with my medical insurance if I lose this current job or if I get hired at another paper. Obviously, I will lose my insurance with my current company, but after the grace period at a new job (if I can get one), won't my bipolar disorder be considered a pre-existing condition? And then what kind of health coverage will I have? Even with insurance, my treatment is costing me a fortune (much more than my current means). And how is this fair? I work with a reporter who has MD and she hasn't had any problems that I know of in dealing with our employer due to her illness. it seems if someone has a physical disability then they have more rights. Employers and co-workers often are very good at working with them, but is it because our disease is invisible that we aren't protected in the same way? Jenna
