That's interesting least. Early on I tried to counteract my depression with positive thinking and found it about as effective as treating cancer with a bandaid. However, it was a worthwhile experiment and I still play around with the way I think to help myself.
I've found better than trying to see the glass half full, is to see the glass as completely empty except for some gross dregs in the bottom. Then I think aren't I lucky I don't have to drink that. In this way when I meet obnoxious people I think how lucky I am that I'm not married to them and waking up next to them in the morning. This makes me giggle a bit too. I've met a lot of people that I enjoy not being married to. I suppose it is a bit like Tich Naght Hahn's "Enjoy not having a tooth ache."
