PAWS "dry drunk" help
PAWS "dry drunk" help
Almost 3 months sober. After I did some research to find out what in the world is happening to me, this is the info. I got. Anyone else experiencing these annoying symptoms?
Brain Fog
Confusion
NO MEMORY
Clumsiness
Twitching
Social anxiety
Ppl don't understand our recovery is not just about will power and not taking a drink...We've damaged our brains and it it has to heal. The info I read six months to a year b/f you get back to normal!! It's so hard to have a conversation with someone constantly not remembering words, or stumbling around. I had to tell some close ppl that NO I'm not drinking again, just experiencing some after-effects. Your input/experience would be helpful to me.

The best Paws link I've ever seen is this one:
PAWS « Digital Dharma
It wasn't anything like 6 months for me - it was literally a day or two here and there.
I was fine by 4 months.
none of us here are Drs tho - have you seen anyone professionally about the forgetting words and stumbling around stuff, rockerchick?

Yep...I've noticed that I can start 3-4 projects and not finish any of them....and where did I put my reading glasses?
I can honestly say that its getting better, just not as fast as I'd like.
All the best.

Yes and yes!
You read stories on here about everybody feeling so good in early sobriety and life is so much better and so on... and I was like what the heck? Why isn't that happening to me?
Ive been sober for about a month and a half now and accidentally stumbled onto the website Dee posted after a google search. I saw the symptoms listed and just went checkmark, checkmark, checkmark.... Actually made me feel much better that the symptoms I'm experiencing aren't unusual, but also kinda depressing that they last so long. Helps to put things in perspective though and realize that rushing into any new and potentially stressful environments for the foreseeable future would probably be an unwise decision.
Definitely not alone on this one RockerChick.
