~Lilya, I am good how are you? My Christmas was funny!!! I got a broken TV, a lamp that was missing a piece and a cute panada table that was missing a piece! I fixed the last two things but I had to take the TV back. I thought it was funny. How was your Christmas? Whatever came out about your eyes, in case I missed that post. Have a great day! |

Hi Lurkings, Funny gifts! Well I´m glad you´re fine. I had the best Christmas and New Years in ages, danced tango, ate pasta and fish soupe, watched fireworks and movies. Today I´m a little blue. I had a nightmare about the daughter I lost when I was in my teens and it tends to affect me. I know it will pass. I couldn´t have the operation because I got an eye infection and yet another cold! I´m not feeling 100% yet. I will postpone the operation. I´m looking forward to the workweek. This has been too coocoon like, if you knwo what I mean. Quote:

Lilya~ A lot of people here have had a lot of time off so there is a lot of fighting. So when everyone goes about their normal day things will get "normal". I guess that the phrase there can never be enough of a good things isn't quite always true huh? New Years was pretty good. I played poker to bring in the new year. Nothing real special... I only lost $2.50! Sorry about your cold, I have been a little under the weather myself but nothing bad. Man that stinks about your eye also! I am very happy you had such a great christmas and new years!!! I am sorry about your dream... I had a funny dream though, if you think it might make you feel alittle better... I was sleeping at my sisters and my niece, whom is 13, was sleeping in the living room with me and I had a dream that I was laying on the couch with my broken foot proped up and my niece left a half eaten hotdog at the end of the couch so I started calling her name to come throw it out. I was really yelling her name and I woke myself and turned over to her, on the other couhc, and kept calling her name. Then I realized there was no hotdog at the end of the couch and it was a dream. She turns and said, "what?!?".... I just tald her never mind... I thought it was funny. She sisn't remember me waking her up though. I says that to confirm what you told me once... They are just dreams... I know about nightmares though. I had the same one for two months one time! I didn't sleep at all. |

Lurkings, I´m back to normal, whatever that means. At least I´m not down and scared because of my nightmare. Your dream was quite funny! So "Twin Peaks" . Get it? (I stole this phrase from one of my favorite versions of Jane Austin´s book "Emma", the film "Clueless" with Alicia Silverstone). Quote:

It´s a French word for a flee, but is used all the time for "honey, my sweet," things like that. I cannot find an English equivalence for it. I used it because I know you have broken your leg, and we say "ma puce" when someone has had a bad time. It´s difficult to explain! LOL But it´s meant in a nice way. Quote:

Lurkings, Not bad, not bad at all! Isn´t Spanish valuable in the States, more so the French? When I was in LA, everything was repeated in Spanish as well. We have silly names like "ma puce" in French. We say: My cabbage, my rabbit, my treasure, my big one, my little one, my flee, (LOL) but then you say "Fleemarket". We say Marché aux puces. Mother-in-Laws are "Beautiful mothers". How is that for a French lesson? Quote:

~Lilya, Spanish is valuable here. We have a lot of immagrants from Cuba here in Florida and in the West it is Mexico. I my bosses brother lives in California and just recently a govenor that was trying to get elected wanted to change the state language from English to Spanish. He didn't succeed luckly! French has always sounded like a love language ya know? Just like you said mother-in-laws means beautiful mother... It seems to be a lot less forceful than here. Not to says you don't have your words or attitudes there that we have here but mother in law sounds more defensive than beautiful mother huh? Fleemarket basically means, ~New and used junk for sale~ LOL Hoe many languages do you know? I know some Korea, but basically kicks and punches from my martial arts. We learned them in Korean so when we went to tournaments our coaches could yell out without the others knowing what we are saying... Sneaky huh? |

Lurkings, I speak French, English, Danish and Norwegian and can read some German, Italian and Spanish. I lived in all these countries so I had to learn those languages, although sometimes I mis the ones who are closely linked. Spanish is difficult for me because I try to forget it when we moved from Spain to France. New and used junk, huh? LOL. In Paris, there are beautiful fleemarkets where I have found treasures, and in London too. I love Portobello Road. I once went to a hippie fleemarket in Eugene, Oregon. I have never laughed so much. It was like walking through time machine! There were hippies selling all kinds of hippie things, and I even bought nice earrings. It was like revisiting the sixties. You must have something like that in Florida? I´ve been there, you know. Had a French boyfriend who lived there. Quote:

~Lilya, There was a movie out a number of years ago called, "Bed Knobs and Broom Sticks." and they sang a song about Portobello Road! Where in Florida? There are trade shows and such around here but I have never found a treasure. I like to shop at places like that because I like junk! I can't help it... I think it is because I think I am getting a good deal so it feels good huh? |

Lurkings, I was in Miami, in the poor quarters. There were lots of highways and each time I walked there, some shady people followed me. We drove into Palm Beach (or is it Palm Springs?), because that wonderful man had an affair with a millionnaire lady, so he visited her villa and housesat it when she was cruising. Not my kind of life AT ALL. I blocked it out later, because that guy was scum. He made me walk in some parcs where there were water allegators and told me afterwards. I think I remember mostly the airport. I´m sure it´s a beautiful place, but it didn´t have good memories. And Florida is big of course. Quote:

If you ever come around my way I will show you the area I live. I can twach you to surf if you'd like too... I just learned this summer! Then you can have some good memories of Florida and I don't live near Miami! I have never flown on an airplane... You know I really enjoy talking to you! You are one person I habe really wanted to get to know here! |

I have heard some scary things about people getting mugged in Florida, also about big giant bugs, LOL, but I have never been. It is a very popular place also I have heard for people to vacation in the winter, and also to retire too. Lilya, I didn't realize you had traveled so extensively here in the U.S. If you ever get out to the Bay Area it would be great to meet you. I have no clue how to send a picture over the internet, but if I get it figured out I will send you one of myself and my daughter. Lurkings, I'm glad your feeling o.k. Those dreams that "feel real," are really something. I had one once when I was at a friends house sleeping on the couch. I woke up, or at least thought I had woken up, and I could feel someone curled up around by back holding me. At first I thought it was my boyfriend, but then I realized I was at my girlfriends house on the couch. Then I became frightend that someone had broken in and was laying there holding me. I started to struggle to get away, but they just kept holding me tighter and tighter, then all at once they let go and I fell to the floor. I could feel the hardness of the floor and the impact of the fall. I opened my eyes and there I still was, lying on the couch just like when I had fallen asleep. Hollering about a hot dog on your foot is pretty funny. I was thinking about starting a thread to see if anyone wants to share any of their "most embarassing moments." Of course I would go first, because I started thinking of one today. Those can be pretty funny. what do you think? Juls

Juls and Lurkings, I have to say again: "So Twin Peaks" when I think of your dreams. I just love that phrase from Clueless. I dream all the time thing sthat actually happens. Tonight I dreamt there was smoke coming from my house. I thought it was a fire, but it was nothing and the smoke was cleared. What do you think it means?I would love to meet you both in the States. I hope I can come soon, because I love to travel there. I will when the France/USA conflict has died down. I would just love to surf. Lurkings, you´re lucky. I have saved every year since I started my career so I can die in a warm place like Florida and the Bahamas. About scumbags boyfriends: Yes, I think we have all had them. And will continue to, unless we stay celibate or something radical will happen. Quote:

~Juls, This one time I dreamt I was running through a dark cave and the light on my helmet went out. Whoever was chasing me reached out and touched me and I jumped so high!! For real I really jarred myself awake.... I use to always have dreams like that! I think a thread about that would be good if people are willing to share. I will share if I can think of one! ~Lilya, Yes, if you come really let me know and I'll meet up with you!!! I don't know about how warm it is but it sure is HOT... It feels hot almost all the time to me!!! You have dreams that come true to?? I do all the time and it scared me to death sometimes!!! About your dream... Maybe it wasn't smoke... Maybe you were dusting! |

Interesting dream about the helmet. Being chased in a dream means sometimes we´re running away from something in us. The dark cave is the dark continent, your inner pshyce, to quote Freud. The light went off - a problem will arise and you will not at first find the solution, but eventually you will. Let´s continue our dream talk in my new thread. And I would love to visit Florida! It sounds a lot better than the place I stayed in with my 146th (or so) boyfriend failure. LOL Quote:

~Lilya, 146 or so? Wow. Not me... I think I have had 5.... But three were long relationships... 4 months, 1 1/2 years and 2 years.... Then on the flip side I had one that was less than three weeks and another less than 24 hours.... I have never been broken up with though. I always break up and I feel bad because the other person was always really into me... Ofcourse rather than working on the relationship I guess I just jetted... Hmmm... Gives me something to think about now huh? |

This wasn't a dream, but I will tell it anyway since you mentioned about jumping high Lurkings. When I was 17 I spent a few weeks one summer hitchiking up and down the California Coast. I would camp out in parks and on beaches and it was just beautiful. Maybe things were different, or I was just lucky but nothing bad happened to me and I met many interesting and wonderful people on this trip. I was so excited to be on my own doing something like that. One night I was sleeping on the beach at Santa Monica, when all of a sudden I was awoken by a sound that seemed like a train coming. Being woken up that way I was not very alert, but I knew that there were no trains on the beach. I opened my eyes to see two huge glaring headlights bearing down towards me. Well you know how they say that in an emergency your body can do amazing things? Well I literally leaped from a lying down position in my sleeping bag 20 feet back up the beach. I kid you not, it was like having rubber in my legs. When I landed I was trembling like a leaf, and my heart was pounding so hard I thought it would burst. What I saw was a huge steamroller that was flattening out the beach. As he passed me he waved and said "don't worry, I saw you." LOL - what an experience. Juls

~Juls, Oh my! I couldn't help but laugh. That is so funny how you just flew. I don't think I have ever jumped like that... But once I came flying out of my room ready to fight my mom... She had shut my cats tail in her door and the cat yelled so loud that I thought it was a burgler hurting my cat. I came out of bed opened that door and with me in ready stance from my martial arts experience. The more I thought about me standing in that door way ready to kill someone I couldn't even see just makes me giggle... Like I could have really done anything about it. |

I missed that dream, Juls, and I just read it now. Oh my God, it´s hilarious. I can just see you flying up from the beach, and I can just see that guy on the steamroller. LOL. Could be from a movie! Lurkings, you´re too young to have 146 boyfriends, so just give yourself time. LOL But seriously, I know what you mean by hurting the other person´s feelings. It´s very difficult. I used to have cycles. For years I would do the breaking up and then the cycle would end and a new one begin with men dumping me. Then again I´ve done nothing but ending relationships that were truly bad. The men wanted to keep it, because they wanted to have two or even three women. I kindly reclined, but it´s never easy. It´s great to be on your own, the best maybe. Quote:

~Lilya, I don't think I ever want to get married. I don't want someone who thinks they can tell me what to do, nor do I want to "conform". I neversettle for things though. I might meet a great guy but I will always wonder if there is a better one out there for me, so I would never be able to make a real commitment. But I guess we'll see huh? Out of all the places you have traveled which place do you think... 1. Had the most impact on you 2. Was a place you wished you could have stayed forever? |

Lurkings, I share your views on marriage! Enough said. But you´re young and someone will come, it always does. Now for the questions: 1. Thailand. Flying over Bangkok at dawn, seeing the bamboo in the river against the huge sun and getting out of the plane... 2000 years back in time, seeing the contrast of temples and skyscrapers. That was amazing. 2. Marocco. Just being in that beach house, riding in the desert, seeing the market, wandering around town, having dinners in palaces... I could live there. Is that a personality test? Quote:

~Lilya, LOL not a personality test! Should be huh? Thialand! How cool is that? My room is oriental. I panted Bamboo on my walls and I have all my martial arts stuff hanging up. It is so cool and for you to have actualy been there makes me a bit on the jealous side. I have not been out of my country... But I love NYC and would love to live there for a short amount of time. It is soooooo cool just how big everything is and how small I feel there. It is awesome. I want to visit Australia. It looks wonderful there. I would like to go surfing there! |
