| Methodes for containing depression
I´m working the steps again - it´s a lifelong process and each time I discover something new. I would like to share with you the methodes we use in my group work in the hope it will help. I also need to remind myself constantly to use them. 1. Being active in AA. 2. Using the telephone. -It´s essential to have that kind of support and talk to a trusted person in the program, a sponsor, f.ex., as soon as we feel depression emerging. It can help minimizing an attack. 3. Accepting that we feel ashamed and sharing that sentiment with others. 4. Accepting our depression like a sickness such as diabetes. -Like patients with diabetes we have to be careful and choose a propriate diet and lifestyle. 5. Using medication when needed. 6. Abstinance from drugs and alchohol. 7. Working on our spirituality on a daily basis. (From WWL2M II, please excuse the translation) For me it´s hard to practise these steps in connection with the 12 steps, although these methodes are simple. However, when I´ve been applying them on a daily basis I feel like a different person. Quote:
