MamaBear, Where are you, and everyone else? The board has slowed down lately, maybe because I haven't been able to be as active. Things are going well for me with the move, and now my husband and I are looking into buying a small business in the area. That has long been one of my dreams, to own my own business. I hope people check in to let us know how they are. Juls

Hmmm, Well I guess I've got to get busy too then. I didn't remember that you were a teacher. I know your on the hot seat now. LOL Sorry to hear your son is drinking. I think I changed my mind on the business thing already. It was exciting to think about for a day, but I don't know if should take that on right now. We haven't even sold the other house yet. Now that I know what's keeping you off the boards I don't have to worry so much. Juls

I just scheduled it for October 13th at 1:35 with Planned Parenthood. I will not go to Kaiser for this. The last to Dr.s I saw in their GYN dept were both idiots. Planned Parenthood is so much better. Juls

Oh dear, I also have my annual agony appointment the 17th of October. Wonder what will happen this time! I had the beginnings of cervical cancer in 1997 and had a laser operation. I have to go yearly to have it checked out. That has been fine so far, touch wood, but mammography is a different game. For the last three years there has been strange dramas involved. A new technician took the mammo the year before last. I went out after my mammo, got dressed and was putting on my jacket when the doctor came tearing out of her office like a bat out of hell. She called: "Come back, come back!" I felt like I was facing the Guillotine when I sat down in her office. She told me a huge tumour had been detected on the mammo. I had to have one and a half hour of tests and X-rays and echography, while I waited for the call of Death. After another hour of waiting when three doctors went over the results, I was called in. It was a mistake! I was clear! The new technician had made such a mess! Furious, I told them I would sue for mental anguish. They calmed me down and reprimanded the technician, then offered me chocolate and coffee. (Typical French!) Then it happened again! Now the doc found a lump in my breast, sweated with fear and I went through the whole 2 hour hell again. It was nothing! I told her I would end up with something awful if this went on every year, just because of the stress. I dread my appointment, it´s good we are there for each other! Quote:

Lilya, I can relate. I had a small pea sized cyst in my left breast. Sent to surgeon for opinion, surgeon wants to remove. Tells story of how previous patient had similar, ended up being BIG cancer. O.K., now scared witless. Day of surgery, no cyst - where did it go? Surgeon still wants to do surgery. I don't want to, also I don't want general, only local over site of cyst. Surgeon implies that I shouldn't want to ruin my breast with scar. I say I'd rather take my chances than going under general which has alot more risks. Decided not to do surgery. Cyst comes back later, needle biopsy shows it is a fatty cyst, nothing more. Lesson: DON"T WORRY UNTIL THERE'S SOMETIHNG TO WORRY ABOUT. Juls

Hi Juls and Lilya, HooraY!! You made an appt. Juls!! So proud of you. I can relate to the cyst agony. My mammogram is Oct 7th. Ugh. Everytime I have at least one spot that has to be restested at least once. I am a big fan of the needle biopsy since you know right away if it is problematic. One thing that has helped my fibrocystic breasts is giving up coffee. Well, almost giving up. I have cut back from 3-4 cups to one half to one cup. It has made a dramatic difference. Boy I miss the java though. hey! Oct is breast cancer awareness month. Looks like we're doing all the right things! Mamabear

Thanks for the support, girls. Glad to hear I´m not the only one to have false alarms and I´m grateful they have been false. So far, so good. I also think the part of the problem is French. There is too much drama and hysterie in my country, and in the health care sector as well. People here are not as cool and calm as in England, for instance. I lived there for a few years, and no one fussed and screamed like in Paris. My cervical cancer was detected there and they were very good about it. It´s unfortunately true that the French start fussing over nothing and allow themselves to get too overdramatic. "Oh my God!" is the norm here. LOL Did you know that in French hospitals, doctors almost never say: "You have a tumour"? It´s because if you take this word a part, it means: You will die. "Tu meurs..." pronounced in a similiar way. But seriously, we are there for each other for the mammographie. Quote:

Lilya, I'm sure you know that "hysteria" is a word coined by the renowned Dr. Sigmund Freud. He thought that women became emotional because their womb was literally wandering around their bodies. LOL Personally, I think the word should be deleted from the languages, but I guess it is so ingrained that would be impossible. Juls
