Hi Lilya, Thank you for asking. He's at the University w/ a full load and getting decent grades so far. Although he has stopped smoking grass, he is drinking on weekends and that concerns me very much. I know almost all college kids do but he is risking so much with this choice. I feel a gnawing in my gut when I think about it and there is not a thing I can do about it. I am not good at this letting go thing. He looks so much better since he stopped smoking. His personality is returning and that is so nice. Depression is still and issue. He has difficulty reading for sustained periods and is looking at that w/ a college counselor. Possible ADD.... Today my control issues are out of whack. I am trying to get my feet back on the ground. We all had a good weekend visit. The communication lines are open and that is a good thing. On a separate note, I tried to find your book. Is it still available? I hope that is appropriate to ask. Also I am going to try to send you a pm ~peace, Mamabear

Hi Mamabear, Well, so far, so good. He´s stopping the grass but drinking on weekends. It doesn´t need to be too bad news. I´m glad he got rid of the grass, it made me even more out of touch with reality than booze. I stopped in a similar way. First I gave up Coke, then the psychadelics, then the heroin mix, then grass and lastly the booze. (Your son didn´t have all these, thank God) I also drank on weekends in University, but I did get my grades and then I stopped drinking and never looked back. I found booze made me stupid, and I didn´t want to be stupid. Finally the respect for my education and desire to practice what I had learned helped me to make the big decision to stop drinking and when I have the urge, I think of that and that usually helps nowadays. This is a long process. But I have a good feeling about your son. Thanks for your interest in my books. My autobiography has not been published yet, I keep writing it and then I put it aside to publish my other work. I don´t think I will publish it until both my parents are gone, but when it´s out, I´ll send you a copy! Hope you read French. Hugs, Quote:

I'll start working on the French right now! I hope our son 'gets' it about booze, too. This still feels surreal to me......not sure how it all happened, or why.......he was a kid who always seemed to have it all together. The good news is that I must be taking better care of me as a colleague said she was so happy to see that my sense of humor was back and I was smiling and laughing again. It kind of threw me when she said that. I know I've been a mess but I didn't feel she understood the impact of addiction and depression on our family. Maybe that's why I like these boards. People live with these issues and that's a courageous thing to do. ~peace~ Mamabear
