Meds working with Deplin.....finally!!

I have just been reading here not a poster as I am shy but I suffer from depression and anxiety (for years). I have tried just about every antidepressant with little or no help. Side effects, terrible or they do nothing at all. I found a new dr who gave me Deplin. After 2 weeks with my prozac (the only little relief I get that I can take), I am a new person. Am full of energy and no sadness. It has been amazing for me. I can't believe that a pharmacological food has saved me. AMEN!!

Have you also considered things like cognitive-behavioral therapy, self-help books, nutrition, and exercise...maybe to maximize the beneficial effects you're getting from the medication?

Interesting information on Delphin. I had never heard of it. I am glad to hear it is working for you. I wish it were an option for me but it is a depression medication/supplement rather than a bipolar medication. Nutrition appears to be a factor in some mental health diseases. I know that proper nutrition does help my condition although I realize that it is not a cure and I need to continue to supplement with medications that stabilize my brain chemistry. Good luck and I hope it continues to help you.

Thanks for starting this thread. I had to search for it yesterday as a friend was asking me about this drug but could not remember the name of it. Her pd is starting her on it. I am actually thinking about asking my pd doc about it. I realize it probably won't cure my bipolar or PTSD but if it helps the chemicals in my brain function better then it certainly can not hurt and sounds like it can definately help with the depression part.

This is really a horrible problem in the US, people who really need a medication but can't get it because their insurance dictates what is and isn't medically viable for a given person. It would be comical if it weren't so harmful.

You don't actually NEED the Deplin brand, it's just L-methylfolate and has been around for ages, finding a generic should be super easy.
