hey people, I just got bupropin hydrocholide (???) from my doctor this week; the first 2 days were awesome and not depressed, but now I'm back to my anxious self. so far, my only program is al-anon, but I'm right up there on the Warning: Addictive Tendencies list I have been taking antidepressant for almost a year should I be worried about this bupropin stuff????? |

I have taken an antidepressant for 8 years now, and last week my doc added Bupropin hoping it would help increase my energy/motovation. I haven't really noticed a difference so far, but I also know that it can take several weeks to notice a difference. She also started me out at only 75mg a day, so it may not be enough. I don't know. I'm hoping it works, but I guess time will tell.

There can be withdrawal symptoms with bupropion/welbutron. It may include headaches and/or seizures, so, it is imperative that you do *not* attempt to stop taking this medication abruptly or without the advise of your doctor. That's the reason for the warning. It's not "addictive" as in heroin, like you'll be jonesing for another dose. But, when I was on the wellbutron SR - once a day formula - I could always tell when I had to take my daily pill because I got a headach. My doc told me that meant I was experiencing withdrawal, and I would have to wean off it when I wanted to get off it. I did, and there was no problem. Shalom!
