| New 2 BP meds....
Hi all. I've been on a new med and it seems to be working out but I have a ??. I have never had any issues with sleeping.. I could sleep in with the best of them. I'm not having any problems falling asleep but staying asleep is another issue. Plus no matter what time I go to bed I'm up at 7am. Has anyone else noticed not being able to sleep only after starting meds? I'm on Lamictal.. sp? Thanks!!

I've never taken BP meds, but I've had the sleepless experience with SSRI's. It was a simple adjustment to the time that I was taking them that did the trick for me. Morning instead of afternoon for example. What I would suggest is speaking to your prescriber, he/she will have the best idea of what you should try. Check out some of these resources too http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...formation.html (Research and information)

I tend to have insomnia anyway, but some of my meds contribute to the problem making it worse. Talk to your doctor about changing what time you take it, like Astro suggested. Laurie

I liked lamictal alot but it has a very weird side effect profile, alot that come and go. I'm sure you titrated up, meaning you went up from 25mg to whatever dosage you're at. I had funky sleep patterns the entire time I was going up to 300mg, then once I got there it seemed to balance out just fine. You might ask your psych about it, but in my experience it was a side effect that went away after a little while. I can't think of a psych med that didn't have a side effect I hated.
