| Revers SAD
I know there's a name for everything, now my seemingly freakish , yearly summer depression has a name and identity as well. Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder has been identified. Interesting- I came across an article in the NY Times (sorry, I couldn't link it!). Every year I dread the oncoming summer months- hot, dreary, uncomfortable. I get really down, and my anxiety level goes throught the roof. I get really nervous and sad and uncomfortable and it's positively inescapable... I seriously want to cry. Even as a kid I was indoors all summer long. For a number of years, I drank my way through this all... I'm trying to have my first entirely sober summer, yesterday the solstice marking my day one (again). A woman in the article described the way I feel exactly- as if the sun were attacking her! What makes it worse is hearing everyone talk about how great it is and how wonderful the (ICK!) 90 degree weather is all summer long, positively radiant- while in the cooler and colder months when I finally feel a little better, they all bond about how horrible the cold months are, and I'm made to feel a freak because I am just the opposite... it takes all kinds- right? Does anyone else here feel the same? Maybe we can start a club! We can call it the October club.

Hey deerwalk Well summer is by far my least favorite season. I hate the heat! I move from Florida to the NW to escape the 90 degree weather (and the conservative political climate as well) Im lucky enough to of just moved to a basement apt so this is going to be a cool summer for me. But yeah, no fan of the hot weather, PLUS there are always more people out and about which doesnt do my social anxiety any good/

I'm totally a cool overcast weather cat. Fortunately living close to the ocean here in "sunny California" is so nice for the most part. But when the relenting heat of summer hits the near ocean community I fade away into a dark room with a fan. What is it about the heat? Oppressing, smothering, intolerant heat can bring me down too. Ack!
