| Questions re: Celexa detox
Hi all; I have been taking Celexa for several years. I do not want to take it anymore. I have been sober for over a year and I think that a lot of my depression/PMDD symptoms were because of the alcohol. So...I weaned myself off of them. I read a bunch on the internet about coming off of them. Some people said it took 2 years! Ummm, no way am I doing that. So....question is..I am having some moods swings and crying jags. I have not been taking them at all for 2 weeks. So I am wondering if I should call the doctor and ask for something else or just ride it out now that it has been this long. I KNOW I should have talked to the doc BEFORE I came off them but here I am now. Any advice? |

YES, call your prescriber! We're not doctors here (thank goodness for that) and shouldn't be handing out that kind of advice. What I can share is that everyone is going to have a different experience or reaction to wean off a med. I kept reading horror stories on the internet about stopping EffexorXR. Tingling, electric shocks, paralysis, etc. and I also had people tell me it was hellish coming off of it. So I followed what my prescriber advised and kept in contact with her. A month later I was done with zero side effects. I'm sure you won't be the first one that didn't call your doc first, just let him/her know what you're doing and see what they suggest.
