Any ever try diet pills? Did it affect your mental health?

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...chemistry.html (Diet pills that will not interact with psych meds or affect brain chemistry.)

I explain a lot in that thread, but I also should mention that I was once on these cheap GNC brand pills. they contained a lot of cocoa and caffeine, which is suppossed to help you lose weight, but I felt like they got me buzzed. I'd have too much energy, then crash and feel all paranoid and a lil depressed. Do these pilsl interact with our psych meds or affect our brain chemistry?

So yeah, check out the thread I posted above and let me know if it's safe to continue using anything to lose weight.

Diet pills made me manic to the point where I had to be hospitalized. Don't fool with them if you're bipolar!

I've gained a lot of weight since I had surgery in January. It's nothing that good old exercise like walking, and watching what I eat can't take care of.

Personally I wouldn't mess with diet pills. Your best bet would be to consult with your doctor.

Diet pills often have high doses of caffiene in them because putting legal amphetamines in diet pills in the USA was banned a few years back (i'm pretty sure you can still get legal amphetamine diet pills, usually with ephedrine or ephedra or something similar, in canada, mexico and europe).

If you really are hell bent on losing extreme weight that healthy dieting and exercise will not address, see your doctor for legal diet pills and a nutritionist for a healthy diet/exercise plan. Taking such high doses of caffiene will cause mania, anxiety, sleeplessness, and a lot of other negative side effects. I drink between 4-6 cups of coffee on an average day and it does curb my appetite, but I just drink it because I'm addicted to it and it keeps me awake/sane hah If you arent a coffee drinker and are looking for quick diet pills, I would highly suggest you not use over the counter diet meds because they put a lot of strange chemicals in there along with caffiene. If you are looking for slightly curbed appetite but do not regularly drink coffee, i'd suggest no-dos or vivaren or something with only caffiene in it, but it really is not healthy and you become immune/tolerant/addicted to them quickly, even though it's just coffee without the bitter taste!

stay safe!
