I learned this in Adult Children of Alcaholics some time ago and I find it really helpful. Whenever I feel afraid or overwhelmed I close my eyes and visualize a wonderful place I´ve visited. Usually it´s a calm picture. There is an island not far from Africa I go to on a regular basis. My best friend´s father and friend of my father owns a house there which is in a Maroccan style. It´s like a courtyard with little houses made of strong clay and is on the beach. We go swimming in clearblue sea, try to shoot fish for dinner and luxurate in the hammocks. Lying in a hammock after a hot day in the sea, listening to the sea breeze and rocking gently in the hammock is my favorite memory and helps immensly. It offers peace and promise of good times. What about you? Have you a favorite place to go to in your mind? Quote:

oh Lilya!~I love visualizing exotic places to replace anxiety and fear..I have travelled so many places in my mind!! I like to kinda make my own "reality" when I do this..like skydiving that then lets me float around the earth to every awesome gift of nature..the Grand Canyon, the Middle East(visualizing peace and happiness below me), South American jungles, just floating above each continent and observing all that is below.....I also love to visualize "my" castle and sitting in my own, very large, very comfortable library where one of my favorite smells...newspapers and old books fills the air, and I sit with legends and ancient warriors and ordinary folks too from different centuries and times....Oh! I feel better already.~

Oh Tammie, I want to go to your favorite place, sounds very interesting!! lol It really does, though! My mind takes me to the ocean, and right off the shore is my glass house (ya know the one in th emovie "Sleeping w/the Enemy") But at night is my best time to be lying in bed, no curtains, no one around, just lying there seeing out of your house (windows) the ocean, and the sound of the water & it's waves....MAN I can really hear it right now!! I would also love to live in a light house, that way I was for sure kright in the water & my yard was well...the ocean, I love hearing the sound of the big waves hitting the rocks!! Can't you hear them???
