Hey now!

Hi everyone. I have been lurking this board for over a year... Particularly this forum.

So I thought I would give it a try. I am kind of scared of this whole forum thing cuz people can be so mean. But you all seem pretty cool.

I am a recovering addict of over 3 and a half years. I also have Bipolar. I have long given up on trying to figure which flavor though. So far I have been labeled BP1, BP11 and BP NOS. Don't really care as long as the meds I am taking are working. With the lovely gift that keeps on giving of GAD.

I try to keep proactive as I can and informed. I pretty much choose my treatment cuz my pdoc knows I know myself. So for that I am grateful.

Anyway I am struggling with wanting to drink due to a recent med change. It is weird cuz the med is great except for the is craving.

My current cocktail is
600 mg Trileptal
1mg klonopin
150 mg of wellbutrin.

I was recently d/c from Seroquel cuz I was displaying Tardive symptoms. I loved that drug. I don't know what I will do without it.

Anyway I hope to meet some people around here to get support and understanding. Sorry for the ramble.

Thanks,
Jewells

Hi, Jewells,
And welcome to the mental health forum of SR!

I know what you mean about some of the forums being so mean, LOL!
Just take care of you, and as they say,
"Take what you need and leave the rest!"
You don't need other people's bad behavior or their drama, right?

There's some wonderful resources here on the forum. I highly suggest:
Bipolar II, Mood Swings without Mania; Brain Tours; Stress and Depression; Hormones and Mood; and more...
and
http://health.nytimes.com/health/gui.../overview.html
Both resources have up to date information in easy to understand language.

There's also a thread by nandm with info on it that's quite helpful.
and there's a link in the stickies with LOTS of pertinent information.

I hope to see you around. I look forward to gettig to know you.

Shalom!

Hi thank you for the links and your guys' replies. I was unable to access the second link. It is dead. One thing about me though- I love to do research.

Right now I am sponsor-less. I have been hanging from the 4th step in NA for over a year. I know that doesn't help my case.

Does anyone ever have trouble with their sponsors relating to them due to Bipolar? That was what happened with my last sponsor and I. She didn't understand that sometimes I couldn't handle her tough love. Not AFA my addiction, but in terms of working the steps and sometimes feeling very fragile through episodic periods.

Anyway, appreciate the welcome.

Here's the NY Times link that was dead above.
Bipolar Disorder - Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment of Bipolar Disorder - NY Times Health Information
It's on this thread, and it's active, if that doesn't work for some reason:
http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-ny-times.html (Bipolar information from the NY Times)
Sorry about that. Wish I could fix it for you.

Shalom!
