I KNOW I am crazy....

I've always been looking for some place where I could be honest about who I am and what I believe... I hope to find it here.

I made a post in this same area about how to overcome problems. You should read this post.

I think what makes me different from people with our problems is that I openly admit that I am crazy. I'll never tell anyone else that, of course. But, for SURE, I am crazy. ****, you wouldn't believe some of my beliefs.

I have also had drug and alcohol problems over the years. I have problems with my family, problems with other people... I basically just have had PROBLEMS in my life.

But there IS hope.. I'm not ever going to tell you, if you're dysfunctional like I am, that you're totally normal. You're not. Or you're probably not. But if you can EMBRACE that....... And see your gifts... Try to be grateful when you shouldn't be.... I think you can create a great and better energy...

Obviously, I am not here because I am perfect. I am here because I have lots of problems. But I am in the first stages, after 29 years, I am starting to see my true answers. I know I can overcome. I know I can overcome any problem, whether that is drugs, alcohol, or maybe if it is my dysfunctional family... or my depression.. ANYTHING-- I've seen it all--

But I am overcoming it day, by day. STOP BEING a wussy--- Depression is all in the way you think about it.. so is drug abuse...

I'm not saying its ever easy.. but WAKE UP------ You don't have to be a loser. You can decide who you want to be. Decide right now, not today, not in the next hour--- Decide RIGHT NOW that you are going to overcome and be a WINNER.

YOU will decide if this comes true or not. DECIDE RIGHT NOW-- Are you going to waste years in regret? DECIDE RIGHT NOW--- No matter what your life was before.... You will be a winner from this day on. YOU WILL. BELIEVE IT. This will make or break you. Do you believe it or not?

Everyone has a right to an opinion.

I do not agree with yours as I feel it plays right into the philosophy that many people who have not been touched by mental illness believe. Mental illness is not simply a get over it thing. People don't enjoy or relish having an mental illness. Most mental illness is caused by real medical conditions that affect the brain chemistry. One can not just wish such things away.

I see that you have posted similiar posts throughout SR. I am unsure what your motive for doing so would be other than to try to force your beliefs on others. Good luck with that. I prefer to research, find fact, find solutions, and trust my personal experience and judgement. My personal experience has shown me that your philosophy although it might be well meaning actually causes more harm than good. Best of luck to you.

Making a decision to be well is the first step in getting better, that is true.
But, as Nandm states,
Endogenious mental illness is not just a matter of pulling yourself up by your boot straps.

Once a person makes the decision to get well,
The process in doing so often includes medication and therapy
along with compliance and rigerous honesty with the doc about side effects.
It also requires the person to take care of themself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, for optimal health. That takes a lot of work.

The decision to get well, therefor, is only the first step.
It's a necessary step, but, it's only the beginning.

Like Lao te sung said:
"The journey of a thousand miles
begins with the first step."

I'm glad you've recognized that first step.
Join us for the rest of the journey.

Shalom!
