| Lamictal
My boyfriend who is a recovering addict, has 8 months clean time. He has been struggling with depression. He was recently diagonsed with bi-polar. I am all new to this recovery process. His Dr. first put him on lexapro, and now has added lamictal to it as the lexapro was not really cutting it. I'm just curious on how long it takes for lamictal to kick in. He has been on it for about a week, and I havent really seen any changes. I would greatly appreciate any feedback about this lamictal. Thank-you!

Hi, the thing with lamictal, is that it generally needs to be raised quite slowly as it can cause a reaction. In most people it is not therapeutic until over 100mg. I was put on it in the summer and responded really well to it at 50mg. Unfortunately I was allergic to it so had to come off. It can be a slow process with this med. Hippy

I have been on lamictal since Oct. 31. They started my dosage very low and increased it every week until I was where I am now with it. I take 100mg. 2 x a day. This medication was a life saver for me. I take it along with other depression and anxiety meds - the combination is working quite well.
