| Just back from 2 mths inpatient
Finally back from months of inpatient hospital stay and starting IOP tomorrow. I'm feeling a lot better on the new meds, still a little anxious though. One thing I need to do is set up a support system of people I can call in a crisis, any other ideas to help keep me away from the hospital? BTW I am diagnosed as depressed, severe anxiety and OCD personality disorder.

I've always said that when I take care of myself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, I'm at my best. All of these areas make up my total self. They all need attention for my self to be well. That means, I eat right and exercise regularly. I learn new things -- anything at all that holds my interest. It doesn't need to be rocket science, and it doesn't need to be formal learning. But, it must engage my mind in new ways. I have to take care of myself emotionally too. Self affirmation; meditation; message; naps if tired; alanon, naranon, AA or whatever may be appropriate; and whatever my emotional self needs, including the recognition of my emotions. And finally, getting in touch or deeper touch, with my Higher Power, whom I call G*D. From services to music to religious education at the local church, synogogue or mosque. I hope this makes sense. And I know it's a tall order, especially if you're not used to doing any of them. So, I started slowly, and built on the base until I was doing well. By doing so, I fill my life with positive activities. And nothing builds on positive like more positive! ![]() I hope this helps. Let us know how you're doing. We care. Shalom!

I've spent alot of time in and out of the hospital. Hoping I can change that pattern. I had to choose to do healthy things like historyteach suggested. So far it's working. give it a try

Thanks, I'm trying to keep busy. I'm in IOP now but after that I want to join other groups and set up a support system, I am so tired of being locked up in hospitals. |
