| Question for bipolars
I was wondering if any of you have ever read: The Bipolar Disorder Survival Guide by David J. Milkowitz, PhD I Just bought the book and will be starting a Bipolar Support Group In Dec. After I complete IOP for depression. If any of you would like, I could relay what I learn to you.

I think Live is referring to either the BP town thread or Jenna's Bi Polar depression Journal thread. On both threads we have a community of bi polar and others with mental health issues who share in general how their lives are going. It is a lot like sitting in a cafe with a group of friends having a cup of coffee and visiting. Nice atmosphere in each thread. Welcome if you choose to join us.

Too Much, Welcome, knowledge is power especially when dealing with the many forms of Bi-Polar. If you haven't researched them yet IMPO it is very important. I was treated for Unipolar for years and was living on and off, with a low grade depression, that I never could get rid of. I had been under a lot of stress, when out of nowhere I got hit with a mixed episode of anxiety, and major depression. When I found this board I learned about Bi-Polar II, my Pdoc is now trying to treat me for. The anxiety is under control with a mood stabilizer, but I am still in the major depressive episode that I have been in for over 6 months, but someday's like today, I feel a little better. I just thought it was important enough to at least suggest that finding out what type you are dealing with from the beginning, could save you months of pain and frustration experimenting with trial and error. May the God of your understanding guide your efforts. |

I do have Milkowitz' book and have found it helpful. I have many others also. I basically read anything I can get my hands on about Bipolar. It helps me feel less isolated from the rest of the world. It helps me feel recognized and understood. When I first read about Bipolar, it was a shocking experience of seeing myself in a mirror.

Never read that one...please share info! Has anyone read The Up and Down Life by Paul Jones? Great book; puts a humorous spin on what can otherwise be a daunting, scary disorder! Gives great facts and suggestions, but the author is a comedian so it certainly has a light-hearted feel, which is something I very much needed following my diagnosis!
