I started taking 5mg zyprexa 4 days ago--took my 4th dose tonight. I have doing okay since I started it. Tonight, about 20 min after taking dose, I am having severe edema both legs. I don't know if it is coincidental and there might be something else going on or if it is related to the zyprexa but a delayed reaction. I did a search on zyprexa and edema, and it is a rare side effect. I can't imagine this would happen at this point as a result of the zyprexa. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know ASAP as I'm worried about it. Thank you!

Please call your doctor or pharmacy right away. This could be a medical emergency. We are not doctors and cannot give medical advice. I wish you the best of luck, and I would like to know what comes of this after you here from your physician. Shalom!

((Sunflower)) I highly recommend you see a doctor. It is possible, with any drug, to have a reaction after taking it. You could also call a pharmacist and see if this is a possible side effect, but I would still go see a doctor..tonight. I used to be an ER nurse, and it is best to get it checked out by a doctor. Hugs and prayers! Amy

Impurfect--I'm a nurse as well and I should know better but of course when it is yourself the nursing aspect goes out the window! I'm keeping an eye on it, and of course if it gets worse I'll go to ER, otherwise will be calling in A.M. Good idea to call a pharmacy--thought about it earlier but again was 'waiting it out'. Thank you both for your help, and I wil lkeep you updated! | |

((Sunflower)) I had to smile, when you said you were a nurse....we are the WORST at going to doctor's I do feel better that you know what to look for and will go to a dr. if you need to. I've called the pharmacist a few times and they were a great help. I know if I were to call a nurse hotline, I'll be told "go to the ER"...I used to be on the other end of that phone Hugs and prayers! Amy
