book recommendation - bipolar/ manic depression

Hi all,
I just wanted to mention a book I read earlier this summer, "An Unquiet Mind" by Kay Redfield Jamison. She is a psychology professor and also suffers with bipolar disorder. The book is a memoir of her struggle with this disorder from suicide attempts to psychotic episodes to becoming the head of the psychology department at her university... pretty interesting book and uplifting too in that she offers a lot of hope for people struggling with this illness. I hope it's a good read for others.

I read one that dealt with suicide but I don't think it was the same one.
And, thank you, we do need to always continue to educate ourselves.

This is the same person referenced in the recent thread which contains a video link to Jamison talking about her illness. I think it was posted by HistoryTeach within the past 7 days, but i can't remember which day it was.

I'm more than half-way thru this book myself. It's not as easy of a read as "A Brilliant Madness" and some others on bipolar disorder and major depression, but also not as difficult to process or finish as "The Noonday Demon - An Atlas of Depression (which is interesting, but very detailed about the history of depression and such, so as slow a reader as i am, it is taking me a bit more to get thru it, but i'm nearly there).
