Nervous about doctor's visit

I have a doctor's appointment next week. I was supposed to lose ten pounds before this visit, which is Tuesday. I don't even have a scale at a moment, nor can I afford one, but I'm positive that I have come nowhere close to my goal. I know that doctors are used to seeing patients not meet their goals, but I'm afraid that I'll be judged somehow.

See, she thought that since I was about to get out of work for the summer, that I would have plenty of time to eat right and exercise. Well, then I was asked (practically forced, since I was the only English teacher with no other plans) to teach summer school. I was still planning to exercise when I got home in the afternoons. Then my husband and I got into a huge fight, during which he accidentally pushed me and I hurt my tailbone and my back. That's when I started to feel my emotions spiral downward again. This was followed by bouts with my mom and my sister... and I've just put so much energy into everything else that I've been too tired to do anything.

On a positive note, I have been trying to eat healthier for the past few days, and I've been more active too; I just hope I don't get upset when the doctor gets mad at me for not doing exactly what she wanted...

Just be honest with them and show them that you are working on it. Life happens, so sometimes we need to adjust our goals to be more realistic. If you can eat a bit better and be a bit more active, it should help in the long run.

I know, and I know it's no one's fault but mine... I just don't want this doctor to give up on me; she's the first doctor I've found in my adult life that I've been comfortable with... and I don't want to mess that up.

I'm glad you are comfortable with her.
But, you're also nervous that she will be "angry" with you.

Ped's right. Just tell her what happened. And I'm sure she's going to be very happy that you've begun to eat better and become more active too. It's the start that's always the most difficult. And you've started!
Good for you!

Now, keep it up!

Shalom!

If you are defiant and/or causing problems for the doctor, I can see them dropping you....but something like this is not out of the ordinary, and is probably more common than you may realize.

Something like what more common than I realize? Being dropped by a doctor??? I've never been quite that big of a problem for them before... I would hope it wouldn't come to that just yet...

Sorry, that was rather vague. I meant having problems losing weight is pretty common, and something the doc is use to. Because there are many factors involved with losing weight, it often takes some time to figure out....so immediate effects are probably fewer.
