headaches accompanying depression

I often get short depression episodes, sometimes just down and not awful lasting from an hour to 2 days. (or ona nd off for several days)Ive noticed lately that they seem to be accompanyied by migraine like headaches (like when I migraine is just beginning) and an out of it or ditsy feeling.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I assume it has something to do with seratonin levels.

Which brings me to my next thought. My mom found an article that said you seratonin rejunvenated itself during the last 2 hours of an 8 hour sleep cycle. No wonder when we arent sleeping we feel worse

Good point about the sleep and serotonin levels. it makes sense. I have found that since I have been on Cymbalta my migraines have significantly decreased. But when I forget to take a pill then I am prone to getting a migraine. Definately a good motivator for me to remember. I also get a weird physical feeling when my seretonin is off (forget to take a pill that day) I will wind up with a weird feeling in my feet like they touch the ground too late (almost like a lack of coordination thing) I also tend to get quite a bit of dizzyness. I can definately tell when my levels get low. It takes a while for them to come back up. I have to take my cymbalta in the morning as when I take it with my Lamictal it doesn't seem to be as effective. Might just be my imagination though.

Im on Lexapro and it helps most if taken at night. (and helps keep the migraines down too) The last few days our barometric pressure has been rising (real migraine trigger for me.) so my Lexapro alone hasnt been enough to ward off the migraines, but they arent as bad as if Im not taking anything. But what they give me for the pain makes me too "off" to really function at my job

I have tried several medications to treat the migraines when they get bad. The best thing I have found for me is a medicine called Maxalt MLT. It is a tablet that dissolves under the tongue. It usually takes effect quickly within 15 minutes to a half hour and I am good to go even if the headache and light issues have already settled in.

I like Zomig. I just always already feel flighty when I get one so most meds increase that. We had a good healthy dinner and some exercise last night and I couldnt believe the difference in how I felt and slept. So Goal : eat more fish and salads.

I get the same thing but don't take Lamicatal. My migraines have severely decreased with the Cymbalta. I don't think I've taken more than Tylenol for headaches almost a year.

I read a study not long ago regarding Omega 3 supplements. Since you brought up fish it made me think of it. To sum up the study they gave Omega 3 supplements and placebos to people in prison. The study showed that the group that recieved the Omega 3 supplements had a significant decrease in agressiveness, depression, behavior and mental health issues compared to those in the placebo group. They also brought up that countries that have a high fish intake have significantly less mental health issues. They think that the brain needs the Omega 3's to form links within the brain. Hmm..maybe I should start remembering to take them.....maybe then I could remember to take them...lol. Actually I set them next to my cymbalta so I would remember to take them.
