BPS Program - Brain Fitness .... Did Anyone Catch This Show??? - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

I Watched this program (it's fund raising time up here again)

I
was
riveted.

It was EVERYTHING I have been asking my doc about, and making notes to talk with the psychiatrist about .. now I'm going to buy this DVD first.

Did anyone watch this?

It talked about OCD, ADHD (childhood AND adult onset)
schitzophrenia ... OMG. The whole dang alphabet.

PBS often shows things over and over.
I'd like to see it if it will be shown over again.

I know here in MT - it's coming on tuesday night again... I went to the PBS webpage - and it's listed there? hosted by Peter Coyote .. I sat through a lot of it going "im never gonna remember all of this - so MUCH of it we've discussed HERE in just the month or so I've been hanging out ... what part of the brain does what -

jaw - drop time whan I heard the part about the holding the fork stuff....
the
'blazing saddles fist hold

'finishing school' dainty thing' ...
it's a brain thing ... if mastered by age three WOW!

it's about excersizes to repair the brain - wow.
and about keeping dexterity in aging, and damage due to to injury whether from accident or CHEMICAL abuse ...

I'm buying it.

there's a DVD that's there which is the program they're actually talking about ... the program is just talking about stuff we've talked about here . The DVD ... now THAT is what I want to get my hand s on . THey say on the program it feels like you've done a puzzle.

it's incrementally harder, .. sounds like a mario thing - you know higher and higher levels. works different parts of the brain.

Ya i saw that show a while ago now, it was fascinating as well as hope inspiring. The power of the brain is amazing. I used to blame my mental capacity's on head injuries, addiction, being Ukrainian, being blond etc. So i just excepted it as it was and put no effort into trying to improve memory,behavior, emotions. Became so mentally lazy. The only numbers i knew was my own, Bank pin, 911 and 310-1010(pizza hut) not even my moms phone #,sad eh. After reading a book on the power of positive thinking called "What to say when talking to yourself) it explained that i believed the lies i was telling myself. "I cant remember numbers" for example,was just one of the many. So when i was able to remember my sin # for the first time, holy cow what a triumph. Opened my eyes to the power of positive thinking and the power of the brain to heal/improve and have been trying to apply it in all aspects of life...........when i can remember

I think that's ok. It's an educational link. We put up links for amazon, if we want to show others a particular recovery book, for example. But, not for soley self promotional things, like a link to scientology, for example, if that makes any sense at all....

OMG, so what did they say about it? Any ideas how you'd google that for more information?

Easeful - I SOOOOOOO flipped out!

this DR specified the PART of the brain that was developing, what neurons were and weren't firing, developing ... bla bla (I TOLD you I knew I wasn't going to remember - LOL) it was amazing!

the POINT was - that that part of the brain STOPS developing ,, but then STARTS again at a later time .... and can be taught to continue to develop continually.

amazin.
