Question Those of you without insurance

Just curious, do you have a regular doctor you see?

or how do you see your doctor? Just looking at all
my options right now, and wondering what you all do.

Hey Done -

I go through a local clinic that bases its rates on a 'sliding scale'.

I live in what is still a sparsely populates state, and somehow, that helps as far as state funded programs for mental health and for health care in general. The sliding scale only applies to the doctors and for some SOME medications however - any tests or hospital is full price.
and here -
its up front -
in full.

they know no one around here has the $$$ for their prices.

so while the doc can tel me what's wrong -
there's often nothing that can be done about it.

As barb posted, same here in my town, Done.

I go to a Community Clinic here in Tahoe. Based on my income I am seen for 5.00 per visit. Any tests, further consults by specialists or medications are billed at full price. It is really nice to find out what is wrong medically or mental health wise. It really is tuff when there is follow up needed and no resources available.

Based on my husbands retirement income we are eligible for Fedilis/ Childhealthplus which is free for kids and low copays for adults.

I am actually only seeing my OB right now, but of course after the baby, I will not have insurance anymore. My medicaid will be taken away so I will have to find other means of getting back into therapy. My OB prescribes my anti-deps and my medicaid pays for it (now).

Here's a link, from WebMD, where you can compare the candidates on their plans for health care.
Compare Candidates on Health Insurance

This is such an important issue. And many do not know that the idea of national health insurance has been around since the days of FDR! That's during WWII, folks! It's NOT a "radical" idea! It's well overdue! We are now rated one of the WORST in providing health care in the industrialized world!

It's shameful.

Be careful when you look at this not to choose those who have dropped out of the race!

Shalom!
