| Genetic Counseling
I am wondering if anyone out there has any experience with genetic counseling. I would very much like to have a baby after getting married to my boyfriend, but I am afraid of what genes might be passed on! This is what the situation looks like. What do you all think? My family: Father-alcoholic, anxiety Mother-depression, ADD, past adderall abuse Me-Anxiety but mostly "normal" Sister 1- depression/anxiety/alcohol abuse Sister 2- Anxiety but mostly "normal", alcohol abuse Sister 3- Borderline PD, bulemia, alcoholic, cutter, depression, anxiety Brother: Mostly "normal" Grandparents: 1 alcoholic His family: Him: Bipolar, alcoholic Father/Mother: unsure, but not "normal" The good news is we are mostly smart and physically healthy. No cancer, etc., in the family....Sometimes I feel like it's one or the other! |

Well, to be honest, I wouldn't want to know. 'Course, I wouldn't want to know the sex of the fetus if I were pregnant either. It's just not "natural." And besides that, what are you going to do about the results, anyway? ![]() Also, recall that genetic testing *can* be used against you in an insurance company claim, too! :nono: Nope, let me be blissfully ignorant. ![]() Shalom!
