hey mx - long time no read from !

I'm glad to see you're still around. Don't know anything about meds, tips or tricks ... just a note of encouragement, and to let you know I've thought about you.

Do you go to meetings?
Or do you work a secular program?

What's the moban for? I've not heard of that one before.
Best of luck to you...Please feel free to check the secular forum and the AA/Alcoholism forums too.

And with any mental health issue, taking care of yourself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually helps keep us on an even keel. What are you doing for yourself in these areas?

Shalom!

I'm only just seeing you asking what I do to stay sober - DUH ...

I pretty much live AA.
I stay here as much as I can when I'm working (which gratefully is a LOT)

It the beginning I remember saying ... 'oh yeah - I remember doing this' a lot. Like remembering something I used to do BEFORE I drank ... that drinking eliminated either the dexterity required to do it - or the creative desire to do it at all.

People don't often think of it that way, but it's true.

When we were kids there was something we did - we climbed trees, we went to school, we rode bikes, we built forts, (just my own experience I mean) we painted, we drew pictures, we played like rock stars ( I defy anyone to deny doing the Diana Ross and the Supremes thing at least ONCE in their lives to SOMETHING)

*STOP! In the name of love ...*

my point being - we did things.

when we drank -
we quit.
then we forgot.

so I spent a good bit of time in early recovery thinking along those lines, and as I got more comfortable in my sobriety, got my foundation built - began trying things - new things ... kinda recapturing some of that again.

I wrote stories. And had no one to read them to. And no one cared if I wrote them or not. But I kept writing them. And developed this system of storing these stories no one wanted.
I've started doing that again.
It's more than journaling, but you get the idea.

That's what I mean.

It can become an exploration in itself. Just remembering, I mean.

Congrats Mx!

Wow - 5 months - that is so awesome! I have trouble with drinking and the longest stint I've every gone with it was 3 months last year after rehab.

Is your medication helping? I was on Camprel for about 3 days but felt so foggy I quit taking it. Is that what this medicine helps you wtih?

I know what you mean about filling in those time gaps of when when drink. It's difficult in the beginning and I literally crawl the walls. I have not had the emotional stability to quit again - but desperately wish to.

Kudos to you!
