| feeling helpless
my mental health state has been strong for a while now, today its weakening, i'm feeling helpless, lost and i'm losing my faith. my friend is really ill right now, people are saying its his own doing. (him being a drinker and all that) people are so heartless at times. my friend has chronic liver disease, he's wasting away and all people can say is he knew what he was doing. an ex drinker myself i feel i have to defend him. no matter what he doesn't deserve to go this way.

rusty 443: Yes, It is heartless and unthinking for people who do not understand the disease of alcholism. It may help you to know that they say these things from ignorance possibly not heartlesness. My goodness, I had a prognosis several years ago of 6 months to a year to live from cirrhotic liver disease, God healed me of that, and my own family does not remember, it is just too unthinkable for them to accept even now. Rusty, even with all the publicity, maybe because of it lately, addiction is not seen as just that. It is still seen as a habit, something one chooses every day to do or not to do under their own strength, and will. Do not lose your faith. I too suffer from a mental disorder, I am telling you, this is no excuse for a relapse. But I understand the feelings. Maybe you are taking on some of those feelings of judgement onto yourself? Don't let them inside. Don't lose faith. It's not God's fault. For questions such as these, I would direct you to the Christians in Recovery section and simply ask, or PM a message to the forum leader, cmc. There are also other forum leaders of various faiths. Another wonderful leader is Ann. They can help direct you. Love, Sherry
