Glad to see you here...welcome.You are so right. These things are very treatable.Often just recognizing what the issues are is a giant step towards recovery. For me it was important to learn to distinguish between my symptoms and my genuine emotions. It isn't always easy, because the pain of the symptoms is very real. But knowing where it comes from makes it simpler...usually. Just for today, life is very good. phoenix |

Do you have OCD? Because you were right on the money with all of that. It's hard for me to be able to tell the difference as well. I have an eating disorder too. An OCD Induced eating disorder. I can't stop thinking I'm fat, and here I am. 5'9", 144 lbs, 19 year old male. My impartial spectator tells me I'm not, but I think that I am. Thank you. |

I have depression with what may be some OCD tendencies.I can take a small thing and let it bother me terribly,so that it intrudes on my peace of mind daily.Knowing what causes it helps a lot.But it can still be incredibly painful at times. This is an area where my 12 step program can be very valuable.Make yourself at home here. There are a lot of good people and a lot of support. And I understand about feeling fat, even though you know you are not.Sometimes our view of the mirror gets distorted by our symptoms. But this too is treatable phoenix |

Can someone share some insights with me about OCD. Sometimes I have these intrusive or compulsive thoughts, and wonder if OCD plays a part. I have suffered from depression and anxiety most of my life and have been on medication, paxil and trazodone for about 13 years now. I think I'll probably be on it for the rest of my life, and it's kind of scary to think that, but it does help, and I don't want to go back to how I was before medication. Thanks Juls |
