I've had some experience with herbal suppliments. I've taken St. Johns Wort tea and didn't really notice anything. Maybe I didn't drink enough of it. Pills might be stronger.

I've also had Kava Kava tea and that made me sort of relaxed and sleepy. It's a good thing to take before bed. If you're really stressed and anxious, you might not feel anything.

I've also taken valerian root pills. These are surprisingly powerful and will totally relax you. The downside is that I felt groggy and it gave me a zombie-like look. Also, when I took it for a few days straight, I stated feeling depressed and I'm normally not a depressed person (just anxious).

Are you on meds? I just started prozac so I'm staying away from the herbal stuff because I hear they don't mix well together. If you give the St. Johns Wort a try, let us know how you feel. Take care!

Hi Fallgirl,
St Johns wort is the bomb!
I used it when I had no other medical options. my depression was so severe, I really needed help, medical help.
you dont notice it at first, you just take it anyway! I took it and started practiceing looking in the mirror and telling myself nice things.
just that would make me laugh. and laughing is good!
But somehow the combo helped. I have been a depressd person all of my life.
I never even knew what it was like not to be.
an now.....It's been years since I've been in that state of mind.
I have read through the years that it can be dangerious if you are on any kind of heart meds though.
I hope this helped...................
Butterflys
I started with a good brand in pill form.

I just started St. John's Wart today. I suffer from quite a bit of anxiety and depressive bouts myself, so I'll report its effectiveness periodically here throughout the coming weeks.
